Five weeks ago I bought a horse, she is lovely and quiet, she is sharing a field with my sisters horse but they seem to not get on too well,  yet when apart they are both calling for each other,  my sisters horse is rather bossy, but then she was in the field first, they seem to kick out at each other . will it get better or do you think they should be split up.  thanks for any help

OK, usually horses will threaten - but not actually connect. Are they actually damaging each other or are they doing lots of threats and squeals? Is there usually food involved when this happens or any particular pattern - like when they are reintroduced after a ride?
Could you divide the paddock with electric tape for now and then just hack them out together for a while - its a great bonder is hacking..
At some point it will settle - I'd prob make sure neither were wearing back shoes for a while though ;)

hi thanks for reply, yes there has been a bit of damage to my sisters horse, she gets my horse cornered and has come off worse, they do hack out together, and when they are fed, her horse gets hers first as she is bossy , and they are fed well apart, hay nets are placed very far apart but her horse goes from one to the other, making my horse move all the time, and turning her bum on mine , we have decided to put a fence between them, you think that would be ok, im new to actually owning  a horse, so any advice would be a great help , thankyou

Hi

A good trick is to put more haynets out than you need - 3 at least. Then your horse will have a bit more breathing space and they can rotate whilst they sort themselves out.

Definitely remove back shoes whilst this is going on - they can do too much damage with them and should still be able to be ridden without backs if their feet are ok.

Feed bossier mare first, but give her a bit more so that yours gets to finish first

Yep - divide them up if its getting really hairy in there - but at some point they will have to sort it out so you may already be half way there now...
