I made a very yummy chicken curry on Thursday - froze some for later too :)

However, it is only today, when I am giving the worktops a good clean-up, that I have realised that I have yellow splatters on a cream worktop .....and they don't want to budge with bicarb .......any suggestions other than bleach, please?????

Champdogs is the fount of so much knowledge :D

This isn't going to help much, but I haven't found anything that removes them, including bleach.  Will be interested if someone knows of anything.

Cillit Bang :) Works on anything, have you ever tried it?

Lemon Juice?

I always find domestos works. Just leave it on the stain for a few minutes.

I do this often and find that it just wears off after a few of the usual wipe downs.  Wear it with pride, few people seem to cook their own curries these days :)

Tried lemon juice ....didn't work - I think its because these splatters have been left on for a couple of days  that they are so well set......sigh........ i'll have to decide which is less toxic - cillit bang or bleach :D :D

what about trying biotex stain removing powder-- brings up the dish cloth a treat and I've been using it to wash the floor after puppy 'accidents' too.

Cif power cream spray works on my white worktops to get curry stains out. I use the lemon one which is an alarming colour of yellow but it is the best kitchen cleaner I've found.  Spray on and leave for 10 minutes or so for stubborn stains before wiping off.

HTH :)

Make a paste from biological washing powder and leave it on the stains for a while and it should get rid of the stain.

We always make our own curries - have a cupboard full of various spices so make everything from scratch but the splash stains can be a pain if you don't spot them straight away.

I just use a little dilute bleach if I'm desperate ;) but have to say you should be proud of your stain, it proves you cook from scratch :D :D :D

Cillit Bang worries the h*ll out of me, how can anything be that good on every surface and stain??  I've tried reading the packaging and they're so cagey about what's in it yet they have the danger sign on it too   OH and myself think it's probably either very very strong vinegar or dilute hydrochloric acid    - just look at the list you can't use it on!!

I cook EVERYTHING from scratch .....that way I know what's in it :D :D :D

Might take a tad more time in preparation - but the finished results do make a difference :D

(we're about to sit down to a lovely lamb navarin ;) )

>lovely lamb navarin<
*ears prick up!!*
well...I was going to make a suggestion of something you could use.
But I think I'll offer to come up and clean it myself for you..it'll only cost you the contents of your casserole dish :D
(Ive got saffron stains out using the Bio washing powder paste method and the powder 'Vanish' is unbeatable for that too)

We make everything from scratch too :) Which is how I know how to get a variety of stains out of white corrian worktops :D

I use Mr Muscle - it's bleach based anyway but not as strong - leave it on for 5 minutes.  Either that or a not scratch cream cleaner with bleach works well.  I guess it really just boils down to bleach.

I love cooking my own curries, I have a ritual: If I need onions I get them on the go first.  Next I get all the spices out that I need and and line them up in the order I need to use them.  Then I grind the whole spices in a Mortar and Pestle - very good stress release.  The smell of fresh ground spice is wonderful.  I like to try different combinations and quantities to see how the balance of flavour changes and hopfully perhaps improves.  Take aways and supermarket cook chill are alright but it is true you don't know what's in 'em.

I love bang, spray it liberally without gloves and inhale deeply. Does that explain my posts? ;-)
