My parents had their lurcher spayed midway between her 1st and 2nd season when she was about 18 months old.  Alfie (who is a demon for anything without balls :rolleyes: ) usually takes no notice of her being female and treats her like "one of the lads" until today ........... we went over for dinner today and he was showing a very unhealthy interest in her, he wouldnt leave her rear end alone and she was not impressed Mum said the dogs over the local field have been trying to hump her lately and she has gone for a few of them.  Is this something that happens with spayed bitches ? could it be because this is the time she should be having her season ? im only worried because im looking after her for a couple of weeks at the end of the month and I cant be doing with having to separate her and Alf.  Fagan seems ok with her but then he doesnt usually care about bitches - unless they have the toy he wants, bless :p

Very occasionally a piece of ovarian tissue remains to release the hormones that a dog would find attractive but the other possibility is an infection which seems to equally excite some dogs.  A veterinary examination with, perhaps, a blood test for hormones should be able to exclude either of these.

Sometimes anal gland infections can make them attractive to other dogs. Has she been chewing her back end or dragging her bottom?
