Thought I would say everything in one post. First I have discovered the results of the Breed Health Surveys on the Kennel Club website (via breed notes in one of the dog papers that said where they were :D). Don't know if everyone else knew already, or if it was just me that likes poking through statistics (;)) but they're at www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/477 and then go to Individual Breed Results in the list on the right side of the screen if anyone's interested. Some breeds don't seem to be there though eg Hungarian Viszla - don't know if it was just that they didn't get the responses? Having looked I expect a 17 yr old gsp and a 16yr 11mth old flat coat (well, we can hope...) :) The oldest I've noticed so far was a 20 year old English Setter

Second - what is a Plummer Terrier? Read something about them in Dog World but have no idea what they are, and searches on here haven't come up with much.

Third - and this shows complete ignorance on my part :D - is a Portuguese Podengo another name for the Portuguese Water Dog, or are they two different breeds?

Thank you. :) Podengos and Water Dogs are QUITE different then, apart from being Portuguese :p

If you have a look on the Hound Group page in guided search, you'll find the Portugese Podengo.

Thanks for that.  That is the first time I have seen all the results together.
I was interested to note that deaths due to behavioural problems in Cocker Spaniels was actually lower than any other breed in the Spaniel Group apart from the, rather small, study of Field Spaniels.  I appreciate this is not a terribly scientific comparison, these problems are listed as aggression and other unidentified causes, but I think this should go some way to dispel the continuing idea, sometimes mooted, that Cockers have any ongoing temperament problems over and above what might be expected in the dog population :)

Isabel, this may be of interest - info on dogs referred to the APBC. It's quite interesting to read what breeds have been referrred over the years :)
