I'm sure I'm missing something really simple but I can't get my vet bed to stay still :( Holly sleeps in a crate at night with a plastic tray in the bottom that I've covered with Vet Bedding.

I've tried tucking it under the tray but she pulls it up and the tray falls down on the base of the cage and terrifies her!! I've also tried putting layers of newspaper in the bottom of the cage and putting the vet bed on top of that but it just slips around and and she then sheds the newspaper.

How can I keep the vet bed in one place as it seems silly to have it in her cage when she can't lie on it!

Have you thought about Velcro?
You can get the stick on kind that sticks to the bottom of the
plastic tray and sticks to the fabric too.
I guess it's only ok if you don't have a chewer,
I have my Boxer 'pup' well junior and she's re-designed most of
the vet bed, it has nice holes in it, never on the outsides always in the middle .....:)
I'm waiting for her to stop chewing it, and when she does she can have some new vet-bed........

You can get vet bed with a rubber backing so it doesnt slip on plastic trays.

Poke a piece of string or tape through the vet bed at each corner and tie it to the cage. Ja:)kie

Vet bed is extremely warm and can be too hot for dogs in summer. My dogs tend to turn it upside down so they are lying on the base rather than the top. Is it possible that Holly is deliberately trying to get it out of the way because she is too hot and that she actually does not want to sleep on it?

This was my thought too. I don't use vet bedding in summer usually - our Cockers would only dig them out of the way, just like Holly is doing. Perhaps a thin cotton covered duvet would be better, Fiona?

Thanks Jane, I'll try a duvet cover. I wonder which she'd prefer - Paddington or Winnie the Pooh????? :D

Having read your post Joan I've realised that's exactly what Holly is trying to do - she scrunches the vet bed up into the end of her crate and sleeps on the plastic.

I've spent three weeks trying to get her bedding comfy for her that I never thought she might prefer being on the plastic!!!!!

Asda sell a roll of non-slip matting (in a sort of grid like pattern) meant for rugs but can be cut and used under vet-bed in the cold winter months when dogs chose not to sleep on the plastic!! It is about £3 per roll and you dont' need to use much. It is washable too.
