During half term I took my mum to Battersea Dogs home ( she lives fairly close to it) to see about getting her a new companion. She lost her 17 year old lhasa 2 years ago and is only just ready to replace her. The staff were lovely and mum was able to put her name down on a waiting list for a little dog. Well yesterday she phoned me because she went to meet a little Bichon frise boy aged approx 3-5 years who had been abandoned on the street. I have not heard my mum so excited in years!!!!! Apparently he is a lively cheeky little chap and stole my mums heart immediately. She picks him up Thursday because he needs to have his little op!!! I am absolutely thrilled for her!!
Can anyone tell me what Bichons are generally like. My mother is retired and loves to walk  so this little boy will get plenty of exercise and love but anymore tips would be so greatfully recieved. Having GSP's I have no idea about them as a pet!!!

I cant help answer your questions but I just want to congratulate your mum on her impending new arrival, and to say how great it is that he now has a forever home with your mum, who will give him all the love he deserves :)

I have no real experience of Bichons but any that I have met have generally been agreeable, friendly little dogs.  Just wanted to wish your mum and her new comapanion many happy years together.  Sounds like this little chap has landed firmly on his paws :)

I grew up with a Bichon, he died when he was 17  he was my best friend when I was a kid and went everywhere with me - even to the pub when I reached my teens !!  he was never dog aggressive (although he was boss of the Afghans in my house) and was great with people.  He loved his walks and would walk for miles with the Afghans never tiriing and always ready to go off out with me in the evenings !!

I have only known one Bichon who had real seperation anxiety I use to sit outside the shops when his owner went in to keep him company as he would yap so loud people would yell at him and make him more upset.  Besides the yapping I thought he was a lovely dog so sweet and affectionate he didn't shed his fur at all if i didn't have my ckcs I would definatley consider one they are lovely dogs you definatley would want to take one home after you met one sooooo cute
