I have been trying to buy little coloured collars to identify pups. My breed are like peas in a pod. I have seen pictures of puppies wih the collars on but have searched everywhere but have not found them. If no-one knows I suppose I will have to buy cat collars.
Many thanks.

what about making ones out of paper so if they get caught on anything, they will snap?

I understand your problem but do you have to put a collar on a 10 day old pup, many people paint the toe nails different colours, (you would have to keep topping it up) or shave a bit of fur in different places, then when they are a few weeks old you can put the different colour kitten colours on. :-) I agree with keisha85 though you need to be very careful that the pups don't get the collars caught, they can soon strangle themselves,  I would go with the painted nails myself.

I use knicker elastic dipped in different coloured food dyes for little pups. When the pups are older and playing with each other I change to kitten collars, and later again to puppy collars with safety snaps which the pups wear until they leave.

Thanks for all your help. I will try getting hold of them from Rescue. I won't be using them until the puppies are older, I just wanted to have them ready.

The breeder I got my f/c from used nail varnish on the fur at different points (L/R ear, top/ bottom etc). Can't help with the collars, sorry.

They are manufactured in the States, and the supplier in this country went bust, but I know who bought their stock.  If you want to PM me, or email me, I'll happily give you the details.  They are called TabBands (spelled all one word) and I use them on very small breeds, with no problems at all.  I have them in 5 different colours, but anyone who has a breed with larger litters, you can write on them with ordinary biro.  I did this when people who had chosen a pup, had already decided on a name, and the name was still readable when the pups went to their new homes.  I liked them, as I regularly sent updated photos to people, and they knew "their" puppy by the colour of the collar, although all pups were the same colour.  They originally started out as identification bracelets in hospitals.  Mine are 20" long and I cut them down to size, so plenty of length there for large breeds.

Dear Keronella,

Thank you so much for the information. I have now ordered the tabbands  and I am delighted. Thanks again
