my sil has just got new bitch 19 months when picked her up monday had just started her season, today her 6month old dog has tied with her of course we will take her for the jab but if it is done this early in her season could she be caught again

I would imagine that yes, he could!   So better to go for the injections now - and keep them apart for the next 4 weeks!

we already have an experianced male here and he is taking no intrest at all which is strange. would they be able to tie if she was not yet ready

Yes, and some bitches have even been mated when not in season, though it is very unusual for a male to want to and for the bitch to stand but it has been known.  Of course many bitches have been mated at the wrong time and not conceived when a litter was wanted, but sure as eggs is eggs when mismated you end up with an unwanted litter.

sil vet does not do mis-mate injection have phoned around and vets are reluctant to do it, can bitches be spayed while pregnant if so how far into pregancy can this be done

Why won't your SIL vet do the morning after injection, I don't understand, all vets should carry the injection. Why would any be reluctant to give it, are you sure she has reported back correctly? This is very puzzling.

The morning after injection can be given upto 43 days after tieing.

Bitches can get pregnant anytime throughout their season there is no safe days or weeks, the eggs are more prone to be there in the middle of the season but it certainly can not be guaranteed. The injection needs to be given to prevent any pregnancy, why would a vet not want to give it?  A bitch certainly can be spayed whilst pregnant, though the perfect hormonal time is really 3 months after season but if your SIL was wanting to spay her anyway then I guess now is the perfect time. So if that is what she wants to do, book her in now.

I suspect some vets might be reluctant because of the possibility of the injection leading to pyometra.  Only guessing here, but it is a recognised risk with the injection.  My vet was very reluctant when I asked him when one of mine was mismated.  He was right - she got pyometra.

i phoned the vet my sil is staying with me she is having her spayed any way so it might be best to opt for that now. vets says to many side affects to the jab

the bitch has been booked it to be spayed on 21st november.
