May seem silly but whats the best way to remove a sticky piece of gummed paper from laminate flooring?? I've tried various brands and resorted to using a scourer but it wont shift - help plz!!

You can buy a product from 'Kleeneze' called something like...... "Non-sticky sticky stuff remover", I think Lakeland sell it too!  Or you could try nail varnish remover, but try it in a non obvious place first in case it takes the shine off the laminate!

Thanks for that - missed the kleeneze guy this week - typical! I wonder if tesco sells anything similar?

You could also liberally dab the area with neat washing up liquid - may need repeated a few times depending on just how sticky it is but this removes gummy residue safely and effectively from most surfaces :)

Try WD40.

I've found that baby oil works a treat, just remember to give the area a quick wash with some washing up liquid afterwards - unless you fancy ice-skating across the floor for the next few days!!

I watched "How clean is your house" last night and they used a hairdryer to remove labels from a door.  Have it on the hottest setting and it will melt the glue and then it peels off.  Might work!!

Then they used I think Walnut oil to remove the sticky residue.

God I thought I hated housework and wasn't the tidiest person in the world.

Mind you my sons bedroom looks like that kidds room, but then at almost 16 he can stew in it, not tidying it again after doing a complete blitz on it about two years ago only to find he wouldn't keep it any tidier.

Moved him out of it last year and redecoraed and moved him back all tidy, still no difference so I just shut the door, though I do moan sometimes as at the moment I can't reach in to put his washed clothes anywhere out of my way.

I use white spirit. I was worried the first time I used it but OH said it would be fine and it is.  I have a lot of laminate in general areas as well as kids' bedrooms.  The white spirit removes sellotape, labels, scuff marks, nail varnish and unidentified sticky substance (possibly chewing gum walked in on shoes).  I haven't used it on my real wood laminated floor but have on all the others over the years and then just wipe over with a damp cloth/sponge.

I have been meaning to do this for ages after sticking  puppy pads down with sellotape in the little dog room, i now have a puppy pad holder! I had moved the WD40 from the garden shed to the kitchen cupboard and after reading this decided i had better do it now, then while on floor with glasses on i noticed the skirting board needed cleaning then a few cobwebs and a few insects..........still its done now, I also just took the lounge and hall main curtains down and washed and rehooked and rehung.........whats the matter with me,lol!

WD40.........DEFINITELY BEST AND CHEAPEST SOLUTION..................work it onto the 'sticky' and leave it for about 5 mins, wipe off....easy peasy!just make sure you wash the area with some detergent [ washing up liquid will do] as it will be oily and dangerous!
