Some of you may rememeber I posted a couple of weeks ago as I had found a lump and basically I needed a shoulder to lean on - or a few in CD's case :). I saw my consultant today and after 3 hours of being poked, prodded and poked again, they have ruled out any malignant cells (thank goodness). However they have found that my milk ducts are enlarged which was causing all the pain and lumpiness but unfortunately it is something I have now got to live with as there is no treatment or cure at the moment. There is an operation that would help - it involves removing all the ducts but they will not do it because of my age unless the pain got extremely bad (which at the moment is bearable) but basically I am to take painkillers until then. I am also now on the screening programme to have regular checks and also have been given an "open appointment" with the care unit so when things start to get worse, I can go straight there without having to go on the waiting list for an appointment.
I am sooooo relieved but at the same time I am totally exhausted. Apart from not sleeping very well the past couple of weeks, I think it is also the stress of trying to put a brave face on for everyone that has finally caught up with me.
Thank you xx
