Loads of them, and it's only just gone 6pm.
I'm panicking..............................I wanted some of the sweets left for me to scoff later

!.
Val
ps - do you think any of the kiddies would be cross if I substituted a Twirl for an apple ?!!

if any come round here im going to open the door with my big hairy scary mask on (its got long brown hair and a long brown beard with falling out eyes !) even the dogs are scared when I wear it - more sweets for me ;)

We've had none so far. I really don't like the practice - I'd never have let my children out to do it :( I do keep a few sweets in as some of my neighbours bring their little ones round and I don't want to be a spoilsport - but I really would like to say that I don't approve, but I'm a coward :D :D :D

I just can't be bothered this year. Last year I got all dressed up in a home-made straightjacket and crazied up my hair, and not one showed up! This year there's been one lot so far, but I was just coming back from the vet with the cat with an almightily peeved look my face. Think I put them off!

Just stuck a note on the front door explaining that I've had so many T or T'ers here tonight that I've run out of treats...........which is true (apart from the two individual twirl fingers I've popped in the fridge !).
Loads of the children I've never even seen before but at least all were with parents.
It's not something I agree with I have to admit, but I'm too chicken to ignore the door knocker or say 'Trick please' !.

I'm not opening the door to anyone tonight. The dogs tend to bark when anyone comes up the (gravel) driveway so I'm hoping that's enough to make them think twice about knocking the door.
As it is, I'm in for a long night...OH is away all week. I raced home from work to walk the dogs before dark, trying to avoid the fireworks (we don't celebrate bonfire night here so it's fireworks on Halloween instead (and for a month before...and after no doubt ). Took dogs out about 5pm...just in time for start testing to start of the fireworks for the 'biggest display Belfast has ever seen' which is happening at 8pm just a mile or so from where I live. Luckily, dogs weren't particularly bothered by them. I think they were more confused by the fact that they were being walked in daylight as they usually go out much later.
Have the TV turned up to mask the sound of fireworks going off all around as Shay feels it is his duty to announce every one that goes off (only does this at home, when we're out walking he's not bothered at all). Bought them a couple of new toys to keep them amused so I'm now listening to incessant squeaking to accompany the soundtrack of whizzes and bangs in the background.
In between the squeaking sessions, I have 2 55kg+ dogs doing the wall-of-death around the living room which seems to precede a swapping of toys...which signals more squeaking...
Can't believe it's not even 7pm yet. Can someone please pass the ribena. I need it to wash down my valium sandwich!

I've got a big sign on my door politely asking people NOT to knock and ask for trick or treat. Also have curtains drawn! Hubby is at work until midnight, I've never agreed with this beggin practice anyway, and the last thing I need is 8 dogs starting to bark ecah time somebody knocks at the door whilst I am trying to relax on CD/watching TV/ reading good book/eating dinner. It's bad enough with fireworks going off constantly!
(So much for the sign, there just was a knock!)

Kids would have to walk 5 miles to trick or treat us. I confidently expect no knocks on the door! :)

My friend told my kids last night that if anyone turns up here (out in the sticks) trick or treating - its more likely they are a real serial killer :D
Mollie was wetting herself when we had to do the haynets in the dark :D :D :D
we've had quite a few tonight-more than normal, but not had any for about 15 mins. Teka's not bothering, but Bu's at the front door expecting strokes! The first bunch of girls that came were cooing over him and cuddling him, which seems to have made him think everyone should do it! One little girl from over the road came over with some friends and parents, but all the scary masks were too frightening for her-she ended up crying and going home, but that set all the young kids off, so i has sobbing snivelling witches on the doorstep! Might just be some leftovers for me :D
I have a big bowl full of chocs that the cats keep running off with but no trick or treaters I am all sad and lonely we had one lot of little ones round before i got home OH said they were dead cute. Really in a panic over having left over chocs that i will have to eat

I did think earlier that I'd get some red food colouring and put it on the gsds teeth and let them go into the porch

But I decided that even I couldn't be that mean - it might ruin their gums

:D

OH has banned me from eating any  C norty husband

I got a big Roses tin and 3/4 has gone

I have never seen so many little terrorists in my life

The one ickle one who was dressed as a little devil and he had only just learnt to walk bless :D
Indigo was taken with her big sis T&T and was perhaps partied out as she had a Halloween Party at Nursery

She was brought back after 15 mins , went and got her jarmies gave me I love you so much cuddle and then fell asleep  This at 6pm

In my neighbour hood we have signs in teh window to say we are taking part, I lived in America for a while and it was brilliant and I must be just like the kids as my house is all decorated, probrably one of the people most would love to hate but its only once a year.

In my area, we have got signs this year from the police saying not to trick or treat, this is the first year i havent had any callers, its great!

We went out for tea where to a place where they had a childrens party. Our little boy Jordan had a great time. we've had quite a few callers and Jordan has been in his element giving out the sweeties..........the children love it don't they.

> do you think any of the kiddies would be cross if I substituted a Twirl for an apple ?!!
lolololol Did you mean substitute an apple for a twirl? My little brother is the only kid I know who might object to removal of an apple -in case it interfered with his daily 5 portions :o

I was really disappointed we didnt get many last night, I did have fun getting dressed up and taking the children out, we only go to houses that have pumpkins outside as not everyone is interested in halloween. They both loved it.

We got none, I forgot to get sweeties in too..
Then when I remembered the local supermarket - Somerfields

LOL
When we first moved here I bought lots of fun sized apples and gave those out :)
Kids "what are these??" with puzzled looks
Me "they're apples love" smiling nicely
Kids "what are we supposed to do with them?" even more puzzled
Me "eat them love, they're lovely" still smiling nicely
Kids "never seen these before" still puzzled
Me "then they'll be a real treat then" smiling wickedly now and trying not to laugh :D :D :D
funny, we didn't see any trick or treaters for years after :D :D :D :D
Little-un doesn't go trick or treating, his sister didn't either, I don't really approve of begging round the houses :D :D
but he enjoyed giving sweets out to his friends last night and sat enjoying his own, and his favourite - a toffee apple! :D :D

My friends kids went to their neighbours trick or treating - and he gave them an egg each!! :D He runs a battery farm. LOL. I nearly died larfing when she told me :D
There was loads down our road but no one knocked, - thank god! I have nothing against little kids having fun, but most of these were teenagers who had not even made an effort, they just put a mask on. We had heard on the grapevine that they had eggs and flour too so we turned all the lights off and watched tv in the dark!

Come to mine I have bags left over. I only had about 20-30 kids this year. They were all really nice; had a great group of young lads 10-12. They were very polite and appreciative. (of course telling me my dog was mint was a bonus :-D)

I found it very quiet this year, usually I am frettin gthat e don't have enough and this year we had sweets left over
For the first time ever we had a lovely peacefull halloween - shutting the big iron gates at the bottom of the drive with the sign on them that says 'Caution, Dogs Running Loose' did the trick :D We also live a little away from anyone else so the thought of wandering down a dark lane past dark fields probably frightened the little ghouls and ghosties off too. I'm so glad we moved here!
