Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Mating a bitch in europe??
- By Star [in] Date 27.10.06 18:38 UTC
We are looking at the option of mating a dog in europe, possibly netherlands. If we found the right dog etc what are the'legal' and KC requirements for this. we take her over, do the deed but what paperwork, cost etc (apart from travelling, stud fee) are involved.
Thanks

you need to reg the dog at the uk kennel club on the atc number form not the import form has he lives in holland and not going to be imported in the uk.or has he been shown in the uk beacuse then he is reg,

Not sure what dog we might use yet. There is one we like but he has only been shown in the Netherlands and Germany. Is the ATC form a speacial form

yes from the kennel club in the uk with out thisyou cannot register your puppies in the uk,both dam/sire have to be reg

Actually you only need a certified pedigree for the male you use.  Depending on whether it is 3 generations or five depends on how much extra above the normal registration fees you pay (have a look at the green reg form it shows the charge there.

You will need to satisfy the Pet passport requirements for your girl.

Good luck.

Have just come back from doing this myself and keeping fingers crossed that she will be in whelp and have a healthy litter containing the bitch I want.

Good luck with that ;) You deserve a good litter after the effort you've put in.

We are off to Amsterdam in November so can take a better look then. Where did you do Brainless? How did you travel, time schedules, bitch ready etc. Looking for as much info about pros and cons as possible. Thnx. Sue

Barb.....are you saying that the sire of yours DOESNT have an ATC number with our KC then? Bit confused now:confused:

Why would a dog need an ATC number if he's not going to be shown here? I'd have thought the official pedigree from the KC in the country of origin would be sufficient.

The KC will accept the pedigree & FCI/SV/etc registration details for the sire as long as the KC litter reg form is signed only dogs competing from abroad that is normally resident abroad needs an ATC-ATC Authority To Compete-have nothing to do with registering the results of using a dog abroad at stud

No and no reason he should have as he isn't likely to ever come over here to compete.  You provide the kennel club with a certified pedigree for the male you have used, get the green form signed by his owner as you would for a mating here, and pay the extra dosh, I assume for them to input the dogs pedigree into their database.

No as has been said you don't need an ATC.  Just need your bitch to have a pet passport and to find a suitable dog.  Thinking of doing this myself so will have to start saving my pennies as it's very expensive to do!

Barb, I was only asking as Brie seemed quite sure in her posting. Obviously theres no logic in it having an ATC number.
