OH has invested in himself over the last few years and has picked up a number of qualifications some are technical & some are managerial.

He overheard a conversation today that said "well if he leaves they are only certificates"

OH hasn't indicated he his leaving but someone who is 'supposedly' below him in the company is possibly being brought in to do the day to day to running of the company and so they may think OH will leave.

A small question:

The managerial qualifications that he has invested in are:
NVQ 3 in management
Prince2
Diploma in managerial studies(HNC level).

Are these qualifications only certificates and not worth the paper they are wrote on.

Prince 2 is worth it ! It is a pre requisite for anybody wanting to work in a Project Management related role! I have it and it opens up so many opportunities ;) Prince is a Project Management Methodology which gives a Project complete control.

The Management Quals are ok but do feel hands on Management is learnt on the job rather than in the class room ! I have seen many 'Managers' who have been on many courses but still were complete and utter imbeciles :rolleyes: Common sense, the ability to listen and make decisions are some key qualities IMHO :)

His current role is general manager whereby he undertakes project management, office management & finance management & technical support.

The person possibly being brought in to help run the company has none of these qualifications & currently doesn't do any of the above.

they are qualifications, because you can get them at uni or college. so would that be the same? as it is the same title
