Has anyone on here used any of these products? Or is there anywhere in the UK where they can be bought? I have done an online search but can't find anything for UK.
They are an American company and the complete foods include Elk and Bison. something different :) The website is: timberwolforganics.com
If anyone has tried, or knows someone who has, can I have some feedback please
Many thanks
Anne

Found some comments on this site
Might help Anne.

I had a look at the website....forgot my speakers were turned up...and had a Husky stampede at the wolf howl!! LOL :D (he's still sniffing and searching behind the computer, ears pricked and head tiltiing quizically!)

I too am trying to find out about shipping feed from the states ( a different feed tho')..its quite a paper trail, so sympathise!
Good luck :)

I know loads of people who have tried TO.....in America ;) It is currently classed as one of the top foods with the holistic/natural feeders,i cant say i blame them looking at the ingredients. It's only a small and very new company with almost non existant customer service,so if you've e-mailed TO dont expect a reply. The guy who 'invented' it never expected it to take off as it did(something like 300% increase) and just cant keep up with the demand, lettalone answer e-mails.The poor CS is probably the only thing that have put people off of feeding the food.

As with all the other foods of TO calibre,do not expect to see any of them available in the UK :( "Apparantly" no-one would be prepared to pay the cost of the food if it was available here  I for one, would be prepared to pay almost anything for pet foods of such quality!
The only way to feed this food to your dogs would be to import it.

thing to do is get together with friend, breeders, anyone else who might be interested. Once you start shipping in bulk the price per unit goes down. For example I just bought some dog beds from a Canadian company and the shipping price was the same for 3 beds as it was for 1. It would be worth asking around and calling them to ask about shipping. If they're selling 30-40 bags or more it's worth the effort.

Hey, offer to become a distributor!
- By ice_queen Date 02.06.06 17:34 UTC
It is in this country.  There was a stand at crufts and also today at SC.
- By HuskyGal Date 02.06.06 18:01 UTC
thats interesting Rox.. I'll keep an eye out at SC ...Anne I'll PM you if I get the info on them ( I think your already in process of ordering from states tho'??) anyway will let you know! Im at SC show on sunday will get back to you! :)

- By Brainless [gb] Date 02.06.06 22:26 UTC
Don't think it is the same thing Rox, sounds like the Robur company.
- By Isabel Date 02.06.06 22:28 UTC
In a way that is a relief, if Anne has already mortgaged the house and chartered a container ship already embarked on the high seas isn't it? :)
- By Ktee [us] Date 03.06.06 01:00 UTC

>Don't think it is the same thing Rox, sounds like the Robur company.<

Damn it! :( I just about fell off my chair with excitement when i heard it was here! Can someone let us know which company it is at the show?

Huskygal, which food are you thinking about bringing in?

- By ClaireyS Date 03.06.06 16:07 UTC
it is this company at the show http://www.bozita.co.uk/ I tried their tinned food on mine at Bath and they loved it, I wanted to buy a few trays of it and Southern Counties but didnt have any cash on me and they didnt do cards.  The tinned comes in flavours like reindeer and elk   similar to naturediet, problem is I can only find their complete to buy online, no where seems to sell the tinned stuff
- By ice_queen Date 03.06.06 06:58 UTC
Oh maybe...but they still do elk, biason etc as flavours......Sorry if I got anyone too excited.
- By Anndee [gb] Date 03.06.06 08:02 UTC
Hi Everyone.
Thanks so much for all your input.
I was getting quite excited when it had been seen at Crufts and Southern Counties but now I'm almost certain it is the Scandanavian (I think) company, that are doing elk. Is it in tins? There was also some of this brand, if its the same, at Birmingham National, up on the balcony, inside. what is the name of this brand??

Well just for the record, I have ordered some of this Timberwolf from USA and it wasn't too costly. UNTIL...................... Yep. I had to pay £21 customs and tax on it:(
It's getting delivered on Monday. I have to say though I only ordered it on the 26th May, and it was in this country on the 1st June. Isn't this parcel tracking lark clever? Its good being able to see exactly where your post is and when.
I must say as well Duane from (onlynaturalpet.com), where I have bought it from, has been more than helpful via emails. Nothing is too much trouble for him :)
I have ordered a 3k bag each of the elk and the bison + several chew bars and treats, that aren't available over here. The Timberwolf company (timberwolforganics.com) themselves, say they are coming over to the NEC Birmingham in Sept. and if they get any interest then it might become a reality to supply over here, if retailer and distributors are interested :)
Just a thought, but if enough of us were interested, and I will let you all know what I and the dogs think of it, maybe we could order in bulk and meet up at shows to distribute it. what do you think?
Thanks for all your input and observations :) they are greatly appreciated.

Ha Ha Ha :) :) :)
Very good HG.
Do ya know it's something I always wished I learnt to do was drive a HGV. One of my ambitions in my youth. Sadly to old now, and its too expensive to learn :( Still I can dream of been Queen of the Road
I will certainly keep you informed of how things go.
If you would still check things out at Southern Counties tomorrow, I'd appreciate it. Just to make sure its not Timberwolf

the bison and the elk sound just as good as well :) I bet you copied and pasted that didn't you Ktee? surely you didn't type it all out!!

Apparently it's Pet Index, that is being held at NEC in Sept, that Timberwolf are coming over to. Now I have a friend who has a pet shop in Horsforth, Leeds, who is thinking of going to this exhibition at NEC but if she decides not to go then I can have her invite. Even so if she does go she is very interested in getting some in, after all the good things I have told her about, and pointed her in the website direction of it.  Sooooooooo we might well have an outlet where we can buy it from. Don't know if she does mail order, but she goes to plenty of shows, open and Ch, on utility days. She has TT's like me :) so I'm sure she would take it for people to collect from her if they were interested.
But as its a long way to Sept. I'll keep you informed on that side of things nearer the time.

Just bumping this subject up as I was looking through Zooplus at the weekend as I've bought some items from there and was starting another order.  They stock Timberwolf products although they are priced at £37.50  for 15kg, however any order is delivered FOC if it's over £29 and usually gets to you within 3-4 days (Coming from Germany!)
- By ChristineW Date 10.10.06 16:37 UTC
Deleted as posted twice.
- By ShaynLola Date 10.10.06 17:20 UTC
I have bought from Zooplus in the past (not food, though) and their service is very good. Delivery was very prompt :)
- By Anndee [gb] Date 10.10.06 18:33 UTC
Hi. Thanks for the update on the Timberwolf. Its good to know that somewhere a bit more local, if you like, is doing it. I did get some delivered, very quickly I must add, from the US but it ended by being very expensive by the time I got fleeced for airport taxes :(
I wonder. do you have to pay them if it comes from Zooplus?
I also would like to know if they do the smaller size bags of it as the large ones would last my girls forever!!!!
Anne
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 10.10.06 19:03 UTC
Hi. I've bought dog food from zooplus twice over the last couple of months. It was delivered really quickly and free. No extra charges for taxes or anything either. They do smaller sizes in the stuff I get but the postage is only free if you spend over £29/£30 I think.
M
- By ShaynLola Date 10.10.06 20:15 UTC
You only get hit with the import taxes if the goods are coming from outside the EU, I think.
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 11.10.06 07:53 UTC
Thats what I thought too and if Zooplus are importing from US, any taxes they paid would be included in their selling price surely.
- By Sue H Date 26.10.06 16:39 UTC
I ordered a bag of the Elk & Salmon from Zooplus last week, arrived within 3 days! The price you pay on the website is it & delivery was free. My male loves it so far & his skin does seem to be better than it was, but early days yet.
- By HuskyGal Date 26.10.06 20:40 UTC
Awwwww :(
Was hoping there they'd do the Timberwolf Salmon Oil (great stuff) my quest still continues on that then...
- By Sue H Date 26.10.06 20:56 UTC
I haven't heard of that one, is it not the same as other Salmon Oil products? I use the Omega 3 Oil from Quistel, that's good stuff.
- By ChristineW Date 28.10.06 14:04 UTC
Liv,

Have you tried Salmopet?  I buy it from eBay (International seller) and it's a 3 bottle deal, it works out cheaper including the p&p, than buying it individually from the UK distributor!
- By HuskyGal Date 29.10.06 00:27 UTC
Christine!
I could kiss you!! :P
I looked into Salmopet about 4 years ago back home, and duly asked my Grandfather (a legend in his own rocking chair and self appionted authority on all things in his homeland ;) ) He poo-pooed it..but now having just had a search on their Norwegian site I see they started in 2000, so very likely they'd only just started opperations when I was looking into them so wouldve just been a blip on my Gramps radar :)
I use Shaws Paw wax but really want to something that benefits from the inside out (we have a lot of flint in the tracks around our land and I run storm in front of my bike along them..so it'd be great for his paws)
Like the sound of the deal (whats the shelf life like on them though?)
would you Pm me your sellers name..pleeeeeeease.
(anyone who's curious: http://www.salmopet.no/pdf/brosjyre_engelsk.pdf)(hopefully thats the english version)

Hi

Has anyone started feeding Timberwolf yet? At present I feed BARF but for several reasons I am considering switching over to this Timberwolf food for a while. The one I am interested in is the Fish based one. Unfortunately I can't get any samples ,so before I bite the bullet and spend nearly £38 on a big  sack I'd like  some sort of feedback to what it is actually like, and is it as good as it sounds

Rosie
- By Isabel Date 27.10.06 21:53 UTC
How other dogs are doing on it will not really tell you how yours will take to it :)  I think you have to just bite the bullet and try it yourself.  It's not such a hugh price for a large pack but I would say, in environmental terms, I would never consider buying an imported food myself.
- By HuskyGal Date 28.10.06 10:45 UTC
Oh Isabel!!!!
and you use Air Travel!!!!!!...I think that well and truly negates the Bags of Imported feed from the Enviromental grand scheme of things!!!! ROFL ;)
- By Isabel Date 28.10.06 11:04 UTC
:) I have seriously reduced the amount of flying I do having taken two holidays in the UK this year that I would have taken abroad in the past.  Not sure how much carbon you would need to offset against bringing in bags of food on a continous basis but I'm struggling with the notion there really is no UK alternative...................whereas a UK alternative to the Red Sea? :p
- By shannon [gb] Date 28.10.06 12:33 UTC Edited 28.10.06 12:45 UTC
Well as I have only been on a plane once (27 years ago!) and I ride my bike to work, I feel slightly better about feeding Timberwolf to my dogs! :)
Rosieison, I have very good results with it so far, my dogs have stopped scavenging half as much as they did when on Burns and coat condition doesn't seem as dry, but that is not to say it would suit yours, you might just have to bite the bullet!
- By Isabel Date 28.10.06 16:28 UTC
The last thing we want round here is an environmental facist ;).  All I am suggesting is that each choice we make takes into consideration any environmentally friendly options.  If you don't think the options are satisfactory, fair enough.  There are now 60 million people in the UK if each one of us made our choices in this way when they felt we could what a huge difference that would add up to :)
- By shannon [gb] Date 28.10.06 17:42 UTC
...and a very good point you have made Isabel, and to be honest I hadn't even thought about the environmental factors involved when importing a food. However 'green' I think I live from day to day, it is something that I'm sorry to say I hadn't thought about. I am trying this food on the advice of an american friend in the hope that I can find something that helps my pups allergies and I was hoping it would improve their scavenging in general...I was advised to find a food that has more meat than grain, in which this has...something that I was having trouble finding over here.
- By Sue H Date 28.10.06 15:40 UTC
We are on a bag of the Elk & Salmon at present. It's early days yet, but my boys skin has improved already & he seems to like it.
- By Cava14Una Date 28.10.06 15:51 UTC
Hi Rosie :D

Haven't seen you around for a while how are the dogs? Have you tried contacting Zooplus and asking for samples
- By Rosieison [gb] Date 28.10.06 21:42 UTC
Hi Anne

I am great thanks and so are all 6 of the dogs... I am still doing Agility big time, Obedience and TV/Filmwork so we're keeping really busy.
Back to this food. As far as I can see this is the only food available that has such  a high proportion of meat and less carbs. I agree with what Isabel said about trying it, and I probably shall bite the bullet and buy some, but its nice to get feedback on anything before someone buys something. I always find out everything about anything I buy, be it dog food, electrical good, gadgets etc. If the majority told me to avoid something because it was badly made, un reliable or as in dog food the dogs lost condition, didn't like it,etc etc it would help me make a informed decision on it. I have contacted Zooplus and they don't do samples.

That's a pity :(

I'm new to the board but I'd like to thank contributors to this thread for alerting me to both the Timberwolf food and the suppliers. I ordered a bag of Dakota Bison from Zooplus, it arrived in just over 48 hours. It was quite a big plunge, but they have been on it for two weeks now and while it's early days I am very pleased so far. The Basenjis love it, it's great to handle/smell, no itchiness or digestive issues and my boy is livelier (naughtier!) than he has been for quite a while.
- By Rosieison [gb] Date 03.11.06 14:00 UTC
Hi

I really wanted to order some and try it, but Timberwolf just do not answer any of my emails. I wanted to know their answer about the fish meal and ethoxyquin, before I took the plunge.
So in the meantime I have started my dogs on CSJ command performance salmon variety. They answered all my questions immediatly, wonderful customer relations.
This food however doesn't have such a wonderful array of ingredients but doesnt have ANY  artificial hidden ingredients either.

I just wish Timberwolf would answer some questions.
