Don't know if any of you would remember, but a few months back I asked on the forum if anyone had 'lost' part of their AOL favourites files (links)   I had a devil of a job trying to rebuild my links after they were mysteriously deleted.  Well, now they're back!!  Suddenly, I have all the 'disappeared' links back (in addition to all the ones I've replaced them with) don't know where they went, don't know where they've come from

Only thing different is that we took all the connections out at the back of the computer to relocate the computer, printer and scanner in a purpose-built corner cupboard and then put them back in again    everything was labelled and went back in exactly the same    But the pc is working v e r y  s l o w l y at the mo, perhaps it's the extra effort of remembering all my lost links :D :D

has anyone ever experienced this before?

Well it has been a fair few months - could even be a year   I'm always surprised at how time passes so quickly these days ;)

OK now this is really wierd - they've gone again!!

What the .... is happening??

When I queried it with AOL last time they said I must have accidentally deleted them  and the was NO WAY to get them back - so how come they came back for a visit??

AOHELL are rubbish. Im just currently changing from them because they use too much space and take too long!

I've been with AOL for 8 years and find them excellent. I've had brief trips away from them to bt and blueyonder but find aol far more reliable :) I check my connection speed every now and again here and it's always just above the 2mb that I pay for.

Dill, the problem with your favourites is certainly very strange - you wouldn't think there was anyway that could actually happen - definitely a case for Mulder and Scully (and if everyone else is fighting over Mulder does that mean Scully is free?? :D)

Have to say I do like the parental controls on AOL and haven't had many problems, but this definately wierd

I have been with AOL for about six years and find them excellent.  I get very little spam, what I do get, it catches.

I contacted them last week to enquire why my Silver broadband was still costing me £17.99 when they are advertising it for £14.99 to new subscribers?  They offered to put mine down to £14.99 if I renewed the 12 month contract and sent me a wireless router FOC.

So if anyone else is is paying more then £14.99 contact them, it is free through there online help.

I've just changed to bt internet and the speed of the internet is amazing. I have just changed from aol dial up to broadband which is a massive difference but even so bt were spot on with everything.

I was with AOL and after 10 mths of spending my life on their helpline I gave up. I did live up the top of a mountain so did accept that we would have some problems!!!
Have now moved to a different area of the Uk and decided to give BT a go. Well after 7 wks I got connected. They were late sending the hub and then claimed it was a faulty hub when it didn't connect. They sent another hub and it still didn't work, I was once again told it was a faulty hub well I had a few words to say about that. Anyone with any common sense would know it was something else. Anyway after 6 weeks of getting no where I rang again and told the supervisor I would be contacting a solicitor about my contract with BT which says they will provide a service and I was paying for something I couldn't get, I also mentioned that I would contact the national press and tell them that BT hubs don't work and BT claim they are all faulty. (Of course this was a threat more than anything and I wanted to see what reaction I would get from them).
Well the BT enginneer arrived the next day and surprise suprise the hub is fine the local exchange was wired up wrong and they couldn't get broadband to the house. Took him 2 hrs to sort it. Turned it all on plugged in hub and away we went!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a shame you have to get annoyed with people to get anywhere.

The Hubs are a bit of a nuisance.  Although ours does work with my computer via Ethernet, the kids coputers are wirelessly connected and I keep having to reset the hub almost every day for them to pick it up again.  I have contacted them several times and they say there is no reason that it should be doing this and they cannot provide a fix for me.

LOL

Mine are back again too  this is really strange.  and my favourites file now looks like a dogs dinner, after I'd put everything in order too

Is there a place they go on holiday??

I'm afraid to ask AOL in case they decide to remove them helpfully
- By mygirl [gb] Date 03.11.06 23:40 UTC
