HI
31 DAYS AFTER HER FIRST MATING MY BITCH WAS SCANNED, THE SCAN SHOWED 3 SACS BUT ONLY 2 VIABLE PUPPIES WITH HEARTBEATS, THE VETS STATED SHE THOUGHT THE 3RD WAS REABSORBING,SHE WAS THEN SCANNED AGAIN AT 45 DAYS WHICH SHOWED STILL 2 HEALTHY VIABLE PUPPIES. SHE WENT INTO LABOUR THE DAY BEFORE HER DUE DATE AND AFTER A RELATIVELY EASY LABOUR PRODUCED 1 PUPPY. WE LOST THE PUPPY WITHIN 36 HOURS ALSO. THIS WAS HER 2ND LITTER. SHE HAS JUST FINISHED HER ANTIBIOTICS AND GALASTOP. HAS ANY1 ELSE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE OF THIS SITUATION AS THE VET HAS SAID DO NOT LET THIS PUT ME OFF AND TO MATE HER AGAIN IN A YEAR BUT TO HAVE SWABS DONE ON THE FIRST DAY OF HER SEASON ON WHICH SHE IS GOING TO BE MATED.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLIES

My girl lost a litter of 7, 2 she reabsorbed and 5 she delivered, mummified pups.......she had a few courses of AB's and my vet said to try again.   We did so and she went on to have a healthy litter of 8 pups.

Have you thought about using the CHV vaccination next time?

hi
thanks for your reply, did you use a different stud dog for the subsequent litter?

There are alreadt a couple of topics about reabsorption on the breeding forum :)

Have a look  : Here

and also : Here

As you have already posted on one of those, I will close this thread :)

Please don'y type all in capitals, it is very hard to read and is considered to be shouting on the net ;)

Good luck
