As usual at this time of year people see the ££££ signs regarding puppy sales...
Last night i could hear masses of noise from neighbours such as 'Good girl', 'that's better' etc very loud not the lovely quiet calm environment a bitch needs probably had a bit of an audience to watch too.  Today grandson of 2.5yrs arrives together with a few other family members to see the new puppies (screaming with delight for over 2 hours) ...?!?! Poor bitch.

Well now i tell you this poor girl is a very poorly bred staffie who i doubt is registered let alone has had any health screening done, and do the maths yourselves the puppies will be 8 weeks the week before christmas.... can you believe it!  On the plus side she (mom) does have a great temperament, but how on earth will they find good suitable homes?

I truly believe that in order to register a litter from any dog that dog must have been temperament tested by the breed club, and have gained a qualifying award at a show or working trials, agility etc in much the same was as you qualify for crufts. Plus of course mandatory health testing. KC will never do this though as they'd loose too much revenue.  Obviously it will not stop the non registered dogs being born but the general public still consider KC registered to mean a sign of quality.

Thinking of the poor xmas bred pups everywhere... :-(

unfortunately if our KC did do as we wish they would then pups would simply be registered with alternative puppy farm registries that already exist here and abound in the USA for example.

Sadly people think the pups registered with these other registries are KC registries as our breed rescue know only to well, and are very surprised when told these papers ar not KC papers.

A friend of ours has just got a Whippet/staffie cross from rescue. This poor dog is only about 2, yet the rescue reckoned she had had 4 litters, probably sold as pure bred staffies for drug money! Thank goodness she has a loving home now as she is a sweet dog. Obviously these pups would not be registered either. My FIL bought a WHWT a number of years ago from what we are sure was a puppy farm, my husband says he never yet got any papers for the dog but did nothing about it  . This is how these people get away with this kind of thing, a lot of prospective owners don't do their homework and lets face it once you've seen/collected the pup its very hard to walk away.

Hi

I know of a litter of staffys just born. Mum came from a rescue. I dont suppose they got papers for her so hate to think what she was mated to no self respecting stud owner would allow her near there dog.

Sad a lovely breed is getting ruined this way

Its even harder when someone who you though had some idea about pure breed dogs and cross breeds sends his mums dog (so called staffy) to spend a couple of weeks when she cme into season with his sisters staffy in hope they mate so his mum can sell the pups on. No papers for either dogs or health teasting, spent the past couple of days looking through differnt rescue sites to show him lust how many staffy type dogs are in rescue so when he finially comes over at the weekend i can bombard him with pics of how many of these poor dogs end up in rescue and just hope and pray his mums dog did not get caught by the male i dont even think the bitch can be more than 15 months old. Yet another idiot hoping for xmas puppies, i dont think hes going to be talking to me much after this weekend

Ugh.

Next door have a litter again...

Not sure if its a litter of golden retreivers or a litter of westies ...

They had (last i saw them) two goldies, dog and bitch (dog son of bitch), and a westie bitch.

None of these are KC reg, i think they are DLRC as all came from, or have parents taht originated from the dog supermarket in manchester (agecroft rd).

If its westies then this is teh bitches second or third litter, shes 2, 2 1/2 max.

If its the goldie, then a/ cannot at ALL rule out it being her son who has fathered them b/ she is no older than 4 and this will be her fourth litter.

She is not i think, full goldie i believe her father was half lab, although i could have got that wrong and its her son whos father was half lab. If her son isnt the father then his father is.

These will be sold as pedigrees 'with papers' in loot and local shop windows, at £400 a go.

I will not be surprised, if it is the westie, if she then sells the bitch and keeps a pup as she was trying to sell the bitch a while back and had no interest.

Ive lived here since 2002. Shes had... 2 yorkies (sold on), cocker spaniel (sold on), two westies (sold one kept one), two GR bitches (sold one kept one), now has possible the two golden retrievers and the one westie, if she STILL has these two they are the longest stayers so far.

Her son who did live with her has had a Belgian shepherd, sold that, crossbreed, sold that, staffie pup, sold that when it turned out to be barely a staffy at all, westie pup, sold that. Dont know what his girlfriend has now, he died last year, but she had two crossbred bitches, sold them TWICE, they came back the first time, sold again and only one returned which i grabbed and rehomed (shes doing well and looks like a dog 5 years younger than she is!!! :D), another staffy and then a westie .....

Breaks my heart this family and what they do to dogs, none are walked EVER, all i ever  hear from their house is people grumping adn shouting at dogs or teasing them, never playing or training - the reasons for selling all the dogs that have been sold on is that they were a pain, untrainable, destructive.... notably most were sold on in the teenage stage....

The daughter is a nice girl and she loves animals and does want to work with them, but her mother is bringing her up to think its FINE to churn out litter after litter and pass on dogs once they arent cute any  more.

Have you ever considered calling the RSPCA.
- By theemx [gb] Date 21.10.06 19:12 UTC
Me? Aye several times but when asked if they have water, shelter food, i have to say yes they do, and they arent in bad condition, a little fat, and horrific shave job on teh westie....

So the rspca are not interested in this lot
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 21.10.06 19:29 UTC
That is what happened to my next door neighbours, theirs was an english bull and was on a chain that was contantly knotted and the RSPCA told me the same
- By Trevor [gb] Date 22.10.06 16:17 UTC
Ahhh but the RSPCA cannot bring a prosecution that will not succeed - as the LAW stands now,  as long as a dog has adaquate shelter/water and food they can do nothing - please do not blame them -activate to change the law instead !

Sharon,

My neighbours did the same  litter of staffs (unregistered, barely look like staffs ) in early October ready for christmas :(  trouble was by the week before christmas they still had most of the litter (mad evil grin here) and a few days before she was asking my if I wanted a couple of staff pups  by then they must have been 10/11 weeks old ;) and they were getting really boisterous, greedy etc and the owners were feeeling a bit desperate ;)   I don't know where the pups ended up but they were gone by christmas and they haven't repeated the experience yet ;) and I noticed recently that their staff dog has been neutered, not sure about the bitch tho.

Hopefully these people will have a few pups left longer than they want and will realise that 'cash crops' can end up costing money ;) ;) but it's a real shame the pups have to born for the owners to have that experience :( :(

:mad::eek:

Have done a bit of nosying....

Neighbours have got rid of the young GR boy. They have teh westie bitch and the golden retriever bitch... and.....

A litter of pups from EACH. And the westie bitch is going back up for sale when the pups are WEANED (not when they have left, just when they are weaned!!!!!)

The intend to keep a bitch pup from each litter - wonder why that is.....

I could just scream.

They are worse than puppy farmers, how can people say they are animal lovers when they do things like this
- By theemx [gb] Date 24.10.06 10:07 UTC
I really dont know, im constantly astounded at the things they do and say, apparently Mum 'has 30 years experience as a breeder"....

She was telling me that as she was telling me how to train Pteppic, (choke chain, yank, i switched off). Also in her experience Pteppic has NO gsd blood at all (she was a GSD breeder apparently)..... since ive met his daddy im pretty damn certain he has....

Ugh.

Maybe a call to your local tax office is in order?
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 24.10.06 11:01 UTC
or to the local council you are not allowed to breed more than 2 litters per year on teh 3rd it is classed as a business
- By munrogirl76 Date 24.10.06 20:51 UTC
Oh for crying out loud. There should be some way of stopping people from doing that. Not sure what would work tho...
- By Dill [gb] Date 25.10.06 10:38 UTC
OOHH I think the tax office would be very interested in these people ;)

"apparently Mum 'has 30 years experience as a breeder"...."

Interesting that   Yet there's a world of difference between being a breeder and being a puppy producer ;) and some people never learn the difference - no matter how long they live :(

shame on them :(
- By theemx [gb] Date 27.10.06 08:15 UTC
Im hoping teh tax peeps might well be interested.....
