An inseason greyhound bitch has just come into my work with an entire male. they were living together, but we do not no which day of her season she is on and therefore whether she is pregnent or not. How long would her season go on for after mating if they had mated?
If she is still in season then she can be given the jab by the vet to prevent any pregnancy.

even though we do not know when it could have taken place? i thought there was a time restriction on it

Apparently it can be given up to 30 days after, according to the blurb that my vet read out, when Freya had it at the end of August.

Hi
Is your work a rescue if so are you planning on spaying the bitch?
If so I wouldnt bother with the jag and spay as soon as vet says ok to do. If not get her jagged but it will make the season last longer and could upset future seasons but only a problem if she was to be mated.

In my experience the season continues after mating as normal, even if the mating was successful and results in a litter. A vet's visit is called for to see if the misalliance injection is possible.
if i was you id get the vet in scan her see what he thinks and how far on she is and then go from there i agree with Jeangenie even after a successful mating the season carries on as normal

If she's still in season as the OP said then there is no way she could be scanned for pregnancy -much too early. :)
sorry my mistake bit stupid today been upto long with puppies cant have the scan till aleast 5 weeks pregant
i was thinking she would be too early to be scanned. She is going to the vets tommorrow to see what they suggest. thanks for all the advice
