Topic Dog Boards / General / Grooming recommendation

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good groomer in the South Gloucestershire area? Or maybe even Bath or Cheltenham. I have two cavvies that really need a professional touch at the moment as they keep getting dried leaves etc matted into their fur.

Thanks

Just to say, don't have them clipped -their coats will change and will need clipping forever more as it will get heavier and a lot more difficult to deal with, cavalier coats should be left natural so the best option is just regular bathing and grooming, or if needs be a bit of scissoring on feathering and tummies to shorten the long coat, but do avoid anybody clipping the body. :)

Hi Goldmali,

I won't have them clipped, I just want them to have a lovely bath and a bit of tidying up as they both have really lovely coats. I just want them trimmed a bit to tidy them up but most of all a good brushing with a proper brush to get their matts out.

Regards

Make sure you enforce the point that you don't want them to be clikpped to the groomer. Some groomers will clip everything!

I know, my idiot college keeps making us give Cavaliers a 'cocker clip'. Needless to say when I do them at home I do NOT touch them with clippers. If there was a medical reason that would be different, but your average Cavalier just needs a bit of a Coat King if it's got a spayed woolly coat, and shortening of feathering etc. :-)

These colleges DO worry me Lucy!  It's no wonder that we have so many sheep shearers and dogs who aren't recognisable for their breed around ALL with shaved backs! :(

Well done you for wanting to be different and knowing the difference! :D

I would suggest that you contact Rose Burrows at oakbrook_uk@yahoo.co.uk or phone 01452 - 856912.  She's a trained groomer and won't clip them off! :)

Val - I know Rose very well and have to agree with you - she's a great groomer ...
