Topic Dog Boards / General / Vet in Belfast
- By Veronika [gb] Date 18.10.06 15:21 UTC
Hello all!
I would greatly appreciate advice from anyone in Belfast area. We are getting a puppy at the end of November. I would appreciate if anyone can recommend a vet or a vet practice in Belfast.
Thanks a bunch, V.

What area of Belfast are you in??
- By Veronika [gb] Date 18.10.06 17:20 UTC
We are near Marlborough Park, Lisburn Rd

My friend used to use the Ashley Veterinary clinic on the Lisburn Road (opposite Tesco) and always spoke very highly off them.

I can personally highly recommend Earlswood Veterinary Hospital on the Belmont Road but, being in the East,  might be a bit too far away for you in case of emergency etc.

What breed of pup are you getting (just being nosey now :D )?

Thank you for you reply. We are getting a wee Coton de Tulear puppy, so naturally i am very excited and want the best for it. A wee bit nervous as well. None of my friends own a dog, or any kind of pet, so it is difficult to find recommendations, short of stopping people with dogs on the street and asking if they are happy with their vet. I am so glad there was someone from Belfast on this forum!!! I have walked pass the Ashley clinic opposite Tesco's so i am going to pay them a visit... :-)
Regards, Veronika.

Aaah...how exciting for you :) You don't see many Cotons around so I'm sure your little one will attract lots of attention.

Please feel free to ask if you think I can be of assistance with anything else dog relatated in the area.  Maybe we'll see you out and about around the local dog walking spots??

Thank you ShaynLola. I have been waiting such a long time, but now that the time for a puppy to come home is getting closer, I am getting very nervous. Your offer of assistance is much appreciated, you can be sure I shall be taking it up ;-)). I have also been looking for information about puppy training classes, so far I  have found information about The City of Belfast Dog Training Club they run classes in Braniel Community Centre on Wednsdays- have you heard of it? May be there are other clubs as well? :-)
Concerning the dog walking spots - we saw lots of people with dogs walking along the Lagan Towpath, where else would people go? I was in Japan couple of years ago, and there were special dog walking parks, it was great, sort of informal dog club, all the owners seemed to know each other and chat away. It seemed very nice idea.

I'm sure you'll already know this Veronika but they need A LOT of grooming - friend of mine has one!
- By Veronika [gb] Date 19.10.06 12:58 UTC
:-) I do know, but they are the loveliest dogs ever, so it will be worth it. I bet your friend would not swap her Coton for any other breed. ;-).

Oh I think if a nice Golden came along  she may consider it!  ;)
