Hi my girl whelp 3 pups last night i stayed with her all night she settled well.
but all 3 pups have what i would call a rattlie chest ( 1 worst then the other 2 ) i took them to the vet first thing this morning and vet agreed they do have a rattle on their chest like when you hand rear but the milk goes to the lungs type thing . she has given me some synulox to give 3 drops twice a day.they are feeding well.
does anyone have any suggestions if there is anything else i can do to help my pups.vet said thet they could have a secondery infection they are not 24 hours old yet.
thank you

Fingers crossed it does settle down Brac. I have had 1 or 2 that have been a little rattlie before and they have been fine.

One other positive thought, my guess is the fact all 3 of yours have it does or would indicate a little infection BUT that is it is very unlikely it can be something that can't be sorted out with the synulox.

If they are feeding fine they fingers crossed they will come out the other end of it..

I don't have to say this but just keep the room nice and warm for them.

Did you swing them to remove any fluid from their lungs or is this rattle after doing that?

They were born in there sack and mum cleaned they up i checked that they were ok i would only normally swing a pup if i had had to help to get them breathing . I did give them a good rub down to dry them and check all was ok with breathing and check no cleft plate etc.

Hi,
I have a 10 day old pup that has been like yours since birth, although he had milk coming out of his nose.  We 2 have antibiotics for the pup but our vet has suggested taking him into the bathroom when we shower, for the steam, tried it tonight and you shuda seen the amount of snot it brought up!! Our pup does have pneumonia tho, we found out today, fingers crossed urs will b ok.  another suggestion is to hold pup, belly to your palm with head in between ur fingers, facing downwards and rub their back for a while, this also brings up mucus type snot.
Hope this will help.

We had a pup in a litter last year with the same problem, checked for CP etc. he was passed as ok.   Always sounded rattly, took him in the bathroom  and LOTS of snotty muck came out.  It wasn't until he reached 6 weeks that WE found he had the tiniest of hole in his soft palate, something that couldn't be seen when he was tiny as it was quite far back and so small, but as he got older it got slightly bigger.

When he was on a milk diet, milk would come out of his nose and I was convinced (although I couldn't see it) that it was CP, once he went onto a dry diet everything seemed ok.  He's now 17 months old and just had the hole repaired and is fighting fit.

Fingers crossed for your little pup, but do keep an eye on things, my pup had been checked by 3 different vets and they ALL missed it.

Good luck.
