Hi, we have a lovely boy chi and is 2 and a half years old.  His sister now lives nearby and we have noticed how different he is when she is around.  Happier and more confident in himself.  We are thinking of getting another chi and wondered what everyone else thought?  Another boy or a girl?  Over should we leave him as an 'only' boy and let him enjoy those sibling moments?  Decisions, decisions. Please help. Thanks everyone.

I have always tried to keep dogs in twos but there are good points and bad points to each If he is the only dog he gets your undivided attention and doesn't have to share you but if you go out and you have two they can be good company if they get on.  A friend use to have three and they were great together but sometimes when misbehaving they seemed to encourage each other.  I would normally think getting a girl to go with a boy.

I had one boy chihuahua for 15 years on his own and he was fine as he had the children for company as they grew up together, but then we bought a girl chi pup, he was put out and a bit jealous at first but okay after he got used to her, then we rescued another girl chi, sadly he passed on 9 months later 3 days before his 16th birthday, then we bought another girl chi, then rescued another girl chi so had 4 girls in the end at one time, then sadly 4 1/2 years later our first rescue chi died, so now we have three girl chis,The two little ones see the elder one as a sort of mother figure.I would also choose a girl to go with a boy but i do know people with two chi boys who get on fine.Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Go and get another one, he will love the company. :-) and yes, get a bitch.
