I know this is a bit of a longshot but i dont suppose anybody has shown in Sweden or has contacts there that would know how to find information of upcoming shows (Jamtland - Northern Sweden area nr Ostersund)

I havnt got a clue where to start and have been offered a few dogs to compete with.

Thanks for the links. I looked at the SKK site which says the same as the other link.

Im guessing these shows are the equivalent of UK champ shows? Do they run smaller more localised shows like UK open shows?

i went to sweden in july to a show at hogbo international dog show it was a 3 day events with 3 different clubs running over the 3 day.bit like having bath, southern countries and windsor champshow all in 3 days.

but i would say it was more like a big open show over here in the uk.not many trade stands.
dog could quailfy for crufts depending on the award they got.
i am going back to sweden to the stockholm show in dec they tell me that this is the best show sweden has.

i like the hogbo show i was an eye opener with different type on dogs that are not shown in the uk.the tent the breeder and owner put up for the dogs to rest in..i will go back next year to watch again .

i got a puppy in sweden at the moment that why i going back to show or watch him in the show in dec

Not really -there ARE open shows, even called open shows IN English, but they tend to be held by breed clubs -and I'm not sure if it is all breed clubs but the Golden club does.

If anything the National shows are the equivalent to our champ.shows, and the INTERnational shows are a step further as at National shows you can get CACs (equal to our CCs) and at International shows you can get CACIBs which are the certs you need to get the Internatioal Champion title. So in a nutshell, virtually every show has tickets available for all breeds.

There are exemption shows, known as drive-in shows and these are classified as unofficial -bt even those are for pedigree dogs only, registered dogs,  so are nothing like exmeption /companion shows here. There's not many of those either.

Nice to hear someone is coming over here to show :p As i live in Sweden, I can well understand why you'll have to wait until the summer. The area you want to visit is covered in snow during the winter, noone wants to travel up north for a dogshow at that time of year. I live down south, the furthest away up north I've been is Högbo, actually, where an earlier poster had visited this summer's three day event. I was there too, but must say it really wasn't a good representative of our shows. Far too crowded, and as said above, not much to see or buy.( my youngest got made up there, though, so I was very pleased anyway :-)  ) The show in Stockholm in December, which is an international show, with the largest number of entries of the year, is much more fun if you are just visiting.
If someone is in need of advice or information, concerning showing in Sweden, feel free to PM me, I'll try to find the information needed.

Yep i certainly know about the weather up in the north. Im working there at the moment with huskies and got the first covering of snow this morning yay!!  I cant wait to get out on the sleds!

It was just that if i could find a suitable show i could have taken a couple of the sibes before it gets too cold and deep.  Nevermind im just going to have to go home for Crufts and then back to Sweden again for the summer :)

Unfortunatelly, I'll be working on the weekend of the Stockholm show, Briedog  Since we are very short of staff at the moment, I couldn't go. Otherwise I try to go, even if I'm not showing, just for the fun of it. Their finals are spectacular, they always have different "themes", well worth staying on to watch. Bet you are looking forward to seeing your pup! Spanish Waterdogs are getting larger and larger entries at shows over here, spoke to a lady at a show this summer who was showing her male. That day they had 23 entries, which is good for a breed most people have never heard of ;-)
How great to be able to work with dogs, Dude Dog! Suppose you compete as well? I think your best bet is like you said, go to Crufts in the spring, then come back for next summer's season in the north of Sweden. Since you get the midnight sun up there, the shows sometimes start later than normal, great if you have some distance to drive!
Good luck,
Karen
