Well we are due to go on holiday to Florida on the 10th November, it's been booked for ages and because it's an early flight we decided to stay in one of the hotels at gatwick that come with the 15 days parking, well that was all great untill today when we recieved a letter from going places saying that because the flight we were going on was not full enough thay have cancelled that one and moved our holiday to the 11th  It's not a major tragedy the kids haven't got to have any more time off school which is good, but the airport hotel is £40 more which i'm not pleased about, we are now flying with thompson, i wondered what their planes are like?
Fingers crossed everything else goes to plan.

How annoying for you, but never mind you will have a great time in Florida! We are going in December, can't wait but hope Virgin don't do the same to us!

That is annoying, to put your mind at rest though I've flown twice with Thomson to Florida and they were great :)  Did you get upgraded seats? If so they're much more comfortable with your own tv/film choice etc

Write to them and politely point out that their changes have incurred you a £40 increase in your holiday. They might say tough, but for the price of a second class stamp you might find they cough up!

Similarly a polite call to the hotel explaining what happened might mean they would honour the original price.  I've always found hotels are hugely flexible on prices anyway.  Doing both, by the way, would be very norty so I am not suggesting you do that  :D
I've flown Thomas too, out of the charter airlines I think they are pretty good.

I have flown with Thomson and they were really good.

Well i phoned going places but there computers were all down, they are going to ring me on monday regarding the £40 and about upgrading the seats, does anyone know if it's really expensive to upgrade. i'm just not looking forward to the flight we have been to florida before and luckily the kids slept most of the way there and back but i was like one of those annoying kids "are we there yet"

It can range between £80 - £300 for upgrades but IMO it's well worth it. I don't mind being squashed into a cheap seat for a european flight but long haul you need to be comfortable. The wider seats/extra leg room and own tv really make the flight much more enjoyable :)

Exactly what im thinking last time we flew with travel city direct and my OH was by the window and had all water dripping down his neck, we couldn't see the tv it just made it a very long eight hour flight.

Hi my brother works for Thomson Fly (used to be Britannia). He says there is a number you can phone on the Thomsonfly website that lets you upgrade to either extra leg room (about £45 each way he thinks from memory) or Premium which gives you a bigger seat, free drinks, meals and dedicated check in (no queuing :D). (around £70 each way). Says to do it quick though cause they sell out quite fast. We've gone with thomsonfly a few times and they have always been good. I'd have a look on the website for details.
