Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / poo in house

Our Jack Russell is 8-9 years old. He has just started to poo in the house even when we are there. He goes upstairs and does it when we are downstairs. My husband is there all day to let him out. Has anyone any idea why he may be behaving like this, he has never done this before except for when he first lived with us. Thanks for any info

Could he be frightened of something outside (lots of fireworks going off night and day here) and his hearing may be deteriorating, so even if they didn't bother him before might now.

Could be early senility?

Management wise I would not allow him full run of the house, especially rooms he doesn't spend much time in, as he will See these as outside the clean home area, same as outside would be, but warmer and drier
