Hi All,

My 18-month WBC came in from the garden this morning, and vomited up a pool of bright yellow frothy liquid. It looked really frightening, and she went back to her bed for a couple of hours which is unheard of.
I walked round the garden but couldn't see anything she might have eaten. She's been on painkillers and anti-biotics for a few days, and has been fine on them.
Then I wondered whether someone had thrown something over the fence to her, as there is a footpath running the length of the garden, and she does rush and bark if anyone passes. Am I being paranoid??
Anybody got any ideas what would make her sick like this? Happily she seems fine now, but I'd be glad if anyone could shed any light.

What she brought up was her stomach acid & not usual at all, mine do it if they have a bit of a tummy upset & it often has grass into I wouldn't worry too much

Just stomach acid, looks a lot more scary than it really is, it's a dogs way of flushing out any nasties, from bugs to food, eating grass is very common as already said too, you will proberbly see her do it a few more times throughout her lifetime. :-)

In the past I had an Irish Setter bitch that vomited frothy bile when she was hungry. That was back in the days when I only fed once a day. Nowadays my dogs get fed twice a day, and none of the current bunch do that.

My dog has a tendency to throw up bile before he's had breakfast. Made worse by his desire to eat grass when out for his first widdle of the day. It does look alarming but only ever happens when he's hungry.

It could be the painkillers or antibiotics are starting to upset her tum a bit.  I try to give my dogs some live yogurt when they're on antibiotics, don't know if it helps much, I've heard both ways, but they like it anyway!  But I wouldn't worry about it.

My boy quite often throws up yellow frothy bile stuff too if is stomach is empty...almost always happens in the early hours of the morning.  I feed later in the evening now and give a small piece of toast or a bonio biscuit at bedtime and it seems to help :)

Our rottie went through a stage of throwing up bile if we did not feed her first thing in the morning. If she got to the stage of throwing up she would eat grass, or her bed if she couldnt access grass. Problem was it was a vicious cycle. Our vet gave us a short course of buscopan which managed to get her gut back to normal again.

We eventually discovered she was allergic to something in the lamb ribs we feed, though she can have lamb breast and lamb mince =/
