Hello,
I am wanting some advice about camping at champ shows. How much is it and does it cover all show days? Can you arrive the night before the first day? Do all show grounds have "facilities" (toilets, showers)? If you are camped at the showground can you get into the show on every day or are you in a seperate section? Is it quite a friendly atmosphere and good fun??
Any advice, good/ bad
Thanks

Hi:confused:
Camping at the shows is advertised in the schedule  and will give you exact dates and time you can arrive on site. Most are a few days before the show and a day or so after some are longer, some have tiolets some dont, but it will say in the schedule under Caravan heading it ranges from £25-45 for the duration all except richmond who are just greedy and ask for 50 60 if you dont book and the site is naff.so if you are only going for 1 night you may as well book a travel lodge  you dont have to book with your entry  but make sure  a its not limited space like Windsor  where it is better  to book, you will have to pay a little more to pay on arrival again will tell you all in schedule
We camp at most showswe go to and enjoy the soical side of it and have made many friend in other breeds   Happy camping   may be we will see you wading in the mud

Thanks for that TG!! :-D
We are thinking of going to the shows next year and camping for a few days, our puppy will be able to go for lots of walks as he will be older than a year so it should be good fun!!

I hadn't even thought to look in the schedules  So can you get in and out of the show with your dogs as you please or just on your day of showing?

Forgot to ask... is it the same price for tents as caravans?

At South Wales if you are camping you can take your dogs around, or should I say nobody stops you, but at the other shows you can only go around the show with your dog if it's entered NFC each day which could be quite expensive :d

Sorry ... another question...
Does every show that has caravans accept tents. I have looked at a few schedules and most don't mention tents but some do

hi GG
In anwser to your questions  Yes tents can go to any of the show sites   as for dogs going into the show is  No dogs should go into the showground except on the day of showing  and you may well be aproched if you are walking a gundog round on toy day  but as all rules some people seem to think they are there to break  Welsh Kennel show is one where passes are not asked for and you will see other dogs around on wrong days, Paignton is another  this is a lovely show to camp south wales another. Bath site is quite a way from the main ent and you will not be aloud in with your dog only on show day Windsor, richmond, darlington, southern counties, leeds  and  some others are a no to dogs going round.  If you are in a tent you will May require a loo Most have them but not all so if you need any help with the show you are thinking of doing just email me and i will give you some info.

another thought would be staying at a campsite near to the show ground, we always do this as we found the facilities more geared towards tents (back to the tent now ive ditched OH and the caravan - again !!), you often find at showgrounds either no facilities or poor facilities (not that ive ever stayed on one, just what ive observed when visiting) obviously you dont get to meet all the doggy people but you often meet a few fellow show goers on nearby campsites.

Paignton has nice Loos and you can pitch next to them and grass nice and short  very clean
welsh kennel has loos and showers very popular with tents, windsor not bad but busy  lovely for the town
and if you are lucky enough to park near us at any, there is a bar at hand and a  dog watcher  what more could you ask, the joys of camping

Thankyou for all your help. I think what we will do is wait until closer to the time and ask about specific show facilities then ask who is going and meet up with some of you :-D.
Don't think that we are going to go until next summer - not hardened campers yet!!
