As I'm sure you all know I'm not very au fait with technology. I've recently noticed that there are too many pdf files (do I sound as though I know what I'm talking about?) and stuff that I can't access - I just get a little box in the top left of the new page (if it opens at all) with pretty colours but no words. The last time that happened I needed to upgrade my adobe reader ( ) and that did the trick, so I tried again. But it seems I already had the latest version for my system, so it overwrote what was there, and I've ended up in a slightly worse situation (some files that previously were unreadable are now blocked) and with a stupid Yahoo toolbar that I clicked not to have.

Two questions:
a) do I need a new computer to be able to access the latest BVA/KC HD results, for example, and
b) how do I get rid of that stupid toolbar?

*tears out more hair*

to get rid of toolbar go :
Start
Control pannel
add/remove programs
click once of yahoo toolbar
click remove
Done

As for PDF files...not a clue! :D

Adobe reader can be a right pain sometimes. If a file doesn't fully open from the internet one trick to try is refreshing the page. It's a bug that was in version 6 of the reader and they may not have fixed it. I just viewed the BVA/KC HD results in version 6 with no problems so you don't need the most current version. Have you tried saving it locally by right clicking on the link and choosing Save As. Then open it with using your browser - it may help.

I just tried saving and opening the Accredited Breeder requirements from the KC site. An improvement - instead of a blank page I got pages of unintelligible (to me!) code! Which is odd, because a couple of weeks ago Icould read it no problem ...

I will win ...! :D

Maybe the reader is corrupted. You could try uninstalling it (Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs), rebooting and re-installing the new version. It's possible that an update didn't complete successfully. I always turn the automatic update option off in Acrobat because invariably it tries to update itself at the wrong time and gets stuck in some horrible loop.

Good luck, you can beat it!
