I'm so out of date with showing that can anyone tell me where I can find out how this works Ie. what's needed for JW, is CH still awarded on 3 CC's etc?
Thanks, Dot

3 CC's under different judges & I think 1 to be after the age of 12months. JW I'm not sure but 3 points are awarded for a class win provided there are at least 3 in the class, & 1 point at Open show with the same conditions. Think the total required is 25 but they can't be won on consective days or something like that. Have not bothered to find out as in breeds where open show classes are few and far between it would be impossible unless you have boundless time, energy & money, it also helps if you have other dogs so you can make sure that there are 3 in the classes. Now this is true I was there, a lady who was campaining her, long haired small breed, junior dog for a JW had won the Junior & P. Grad and was just walking back into the ring for Open Dog when she realised there was only one other dog in the ring, so she rushed back to her cages and pulled out a dog gave the lead to her partner and told him to take it into the ring. Which he did, complete with rags still in it coat and unbrushed. Imagin her expression when the judge gave the class to the dogs with its hair in rags, those at ring side could not hide their glee. This lady had been telling me earlier that if he won points today she would not be going to the show she had entered the next day because of the time rule - no wonder there are a lot of absentees at Open shows these days.

It is 25 points. you need a minimum of 10 at Open shows, but you can get a maximum of 13 at the Open Shows.
You can basically get any combination of points, as long as there are at least 10 Open Show or 12 Champ Show. They recently changed it so that the open show points were 10 rather than 12.

The easiest option is usually to get 15 at the Champs Shows, as it is easier to get the 3 in a class entried there.

I am currently campaigning my puppy and she has 13 points. 12 from Champ Shows, but only the one from Open Shows, as there have only been 2 in a class at the other shows she has been too! At nearly 9 months 13 points is quite good going. 1 more Champ show and we have all the points for those. Just got the hard task of getting all these open show wins now!

By the way you also can get a point for BOB at an open show, as lonmg as there are 3 dogs present. I don't know if that only applies if you didnt get the point in your class.

Also you can claim points for more than 1 win on the same day, but you must leave 3 clear days in between shows to claim points.

Hi all,

I take it you have to keep track of all of this yourself and then what do you do?

Any class counts at Open and Champ shows, as long as it is in the breed - stakes dont count.

Once you have totalled up 25 points you need to fill in a form from the Kennel Club (don't know what it is called!) It may be a good idea to get this form beforehand though to fill in as you go along, asyou need to fill in things such as absentees and number present, which you may forget!

Here is the form:
