Unfortunately as with us there are some tumours that are fast growing.  We once had a RC who died within 3 weeks of showing signs of being ill and he was diagnosed with oesophageal.  He had been so fit and active 3 weeks before and lost more than half his body weight in that short time when we were trying to find out the cause (not helped much by our vet at that time).

So very very sorry

Cancers can go so quickly & dogs are stoical, they rarely show pain when they are hit by internal cancers. Our GSD Echo was apparently fit & well, went to the vets for a booster(back in the days when I still did them)he cried when the vet was giving him a quick once over & a huge mass was found on his liver & the cancer was throughout his body They let him go under the GA

There would have been nothing you could have done

((((Hugs)))) to you..........
You couldn't have done anything believe me.......
We lost our rescue GSD 18 months ago to a heart tumour......... In a matter of days she went from having healthy shiny fur and a good muscled body to limp and dull looking fur and lost a huge amount of her body weight.......
She stopped eating and wasted away........ I still struggle to come to terms with how quick it all happened and wonder if I missed anything.......
She didn't cry or show there was anything wrong and I took her to the vets because she was ''hacking'' a little with a slight cough........ Nothing could have prepared me for the scan results.......
May your baby be at peace at Rainbow Bridge playing with all those that have gone before.......
Thinking of you,
Love Gabrielle x

It's such a terrible shock when this happens. My Akita was perfectly well on Sunday night, by Monday midday he was dead. As my vet said (because I just couldn't take it in), tumours can grow rapidly up to a certain point before they show any symptoms at all. Mine had a massive tumour on his spleen which had almost certainly spread to his liver. It's taken me months to come to terms with it. You can't have your dog (or yourself!) examined every few weeks, it just happens sometimes, don't blame yourself.

So sorry, please take some cyber love from me, sometimes as the others have said it's just beyond even the vets to see some things until it's too late. Be kind to yourself you gave her all the love and care she needed. That was what made her life a happy one.

You poor poor thing. You must be feeling absolutely dreadful. You have nothing to reproach yourself for. Even in humans, who ARE able to say if they have symptoms, tumours can go undetected until the very end. At least your darling girl didn't suffer, although that's very small consolation to you. You have to think what was best for her, although the speed of her loss didn't give you time to prepare for it, she was probably spared weeks or months of lingering misery. She'll never leave you, you'll always carry a bit of her in your heart. Big hugs.
