My two year old bitch has just finished her third season and gone straight into a phantom pregnancy. The vet prescribed Galastop because her behaviour had become very worrying. She seemed quite depressed, had stopped eating and was barking at every dog we saw and then started to duck away and growl when people tried to stroke her... all very uncharacteristic.
Well we are two days off finishing the Galastop (it will have been a 10 day course in all) and although the swelling of boobs and belly has just about gone away the lack of appetite and the behavioural changes are still there (although a bit better I suppose).
My question is: are the behavioural changes likely to continue to fade after we have finished the Galastop or does this mean it hasn't really worked? I was hoping to have my girl spayed before her next season to prevent this from happening again and I'm worried that the phantom might drag on too long ... (the vet said worrying things about dogs possibly 'drifting back into a phantom' if the Galastop didn't work).
Cheers for any replies. I'm feeling very bad about the whole thing because I have dithered about having her spayed and feel it's my fault now she is having to go through this ... just want to help her get back to normal.:(
