Can someone please explain how I can resize a photo to maximum 150kb? I'm trying to post a pic on a friends reunited site but haven't a clue, scanned it, saved it on computer but won't let me upload it as it's too big. How can I reduce size please?
Have you saved it as a j peg (right click the file, save as and then as a .jpeg), this normally makes the image smaller, the other option would be to edit the pic; you can highlight it and crop some of the image (if you have any you can remove like back ground etc) and then save it as a jpeg (file name.jpeg)....this may work?
Good luck - oh the other thing would be to use a photo bucket account as that often re sizes images for you?

Do you have any imaging software at all? Picasa (free) will let you crop and resize. If you want to compress the picture (Less kb's) just do a google search on free jpeg compressor ;)

yes that's it! compress the picture to less k'b's! Oh I am bright when it comes to this! I'll do a google search and hopefully be able to upload my pic! Thanks all x

depends it you want to actually resize the dimensions of the picture or the size of the file & also what program you are using
If you want to retain the dimensions you need to optimize the picture by using an optimsizer in your program this reduces the size oif the file but keeps the picture the same size
I found this which probably explains it better
g compression is a compromise between file size and picture quality - presumably your camera uses a very high quality setting for the compression - or they are huge!! My camera takes pictures that are 1800x1200 and the resulting jpg files are in the order of 3-400Kb. I resize them to about 800x550 (or there about) as lots of people have screens that only show a resolution of 800x600, though they still look good on larger screens. The file size is then about 50-90Kb.
Compression programs such as WinZip or WinRar will have a minimal effect on the files, as jpg is already a compressed format - though at 2Mb a picture the compression may be minimal and you may get somewhere!! Jpg's usually compress about 2% (A saving of only 30Kb on my 300Kb files). If your file does compress well it may be that you get a 20% reduction, which would still leave you with a 1.6Mb file...
Resizing is the better option though, there is little point in the picture being bigger than the screen (especially if emailing). Save the resized version as a new file rather than overwrite the original if you want to keep a higher quality "original".
There are free graphics programs as mentioned earlier, I find the GIMP to be very powerful, and this has been included on cover disks and is available for download.

There is a lovely little picture viewer/editing program called irfanview that is free to download and very user friendly. In it you can simply click on image, then resize/resample and then resample your pic to 150kb :)
http://www.irfanview.com/You can also use it to crop your pics and alter the colour balance, brightness etc.

If you have windows you can use the old PAINT programme :D just click on Paint, File, Open and then you can 'browse' to the right photo, double click on it and it'll come up :) now just click on Image and the Skew/Stretch and you'll be able to resize by percentage, about 20-30% is ok for most things and you can check the size in Attributes :) remember to save the image with a different file name tho or you'll lose the original. It's really simple and you probably already have the programme too :)
