I took her to the park yesterday afternoon and she cut her paw on some glass, part of her big pad has been sliced off and there was alot of blood, so I took her home and cleaned it with warm salty water and checked her other paws, and found to my horror that she had done exaclty the same to her other front paw. she has spent most of the time since it happened asleep, but i took her for a little walk this morning and she is very lame. i dont no whether it is linked, probably not, but she vommitted as well. she has now gone back to sleep, but i am quite worried. won't be taking her back to that park again. should i just keep an eye on her?

Surely it must be really sore which is making her lame. I would take her to the vets and see what they say. If the cuts are deep she may need to have her paws dressed to keep them clean while the pads heal.
ok, i was debating whether to take her so il pop down
I wouldn't walk her at all until the pads have healed. Though I would take her to the vet to make sure that there isn't any bits of glass inside :( I used to have a lot of problems with glass before moving out into the countryside. The local wildlife (oops, sorry, teenagers

:( ) used to think it a great game to see how many bottles they could break at night.

I wouldn't walk her at all for a while at least 2 weeks. Just think if you cut your feet open you wouldn't be able to walk for a while. One of my dogs did it a while a go and it took just over a week to properly heal up and look as though he could properly walk on it.
im going to have to have a think of stationary training ideas, because she is going to get bored really quickly. the vet has given her some pain killers and bandaged both her feet. They took out a slither of glass out of one paw and cleaned both of them before bandaging it. Has told me to change the bandage in 24 hours and then 3 days later let the air get to it and walk her in a week. why do dogs need to go to the vets on a sunday?! I wish i could find the idiots that insist on throwing glass bottles on the floor instead of putting them in one of the ten bins in that particular park and give them the £70 vets bill, as it is a sunday. sorry, rant over

You were lucky actually, our vet charges over £100 just to see somebody on a Sunday, any treatment is extra. Fully agree about people that throw glass -and so many seem to do it!

I actually saw a couple of youngsters (about 10-12 yrs) throwing bottles onto the carpark of our park. They had an absolutely gorgeous looking young GSD with them and I headed towards them to have a word about the consequences of what they were doing but unfortunately they headed off rather quickly and I never caught up with them  It baffles me what they get out of smashing bottles. The local park also has a concreted area with 3 basket ball nets and that is covered in glass as is any underpass I happen to have to use. Around here they also like smashing the bus shelters

Poor girl! George is still recovering from his cut / slashed pad from last month. It's all healed and we've taken the socks off, but he's still on restricted exercise, and it's much more sensitive than the other pads. :-(
she seems a bit better, now she has her metacam, but can definately see the need for it after about 23 hours, as she has it once a day. once it doesnt hurt her as much to move, she is going to get really bored as it is a week of no walks.
