hi all,
just wondered if anyone had any ideas, i have a 21month old lab, got home from work yesterday aftenoon and she was my normal happy bouncy dog, went out for a meal for a couple of hours and came home to a house full of sick. she has sicked up what looked like water/slime/foam all over the sofa's, floor, bed etc and some of it had specks of blood in.
she was very off colour and looked very withdrawn, stomach sort of lifted up like a sort of whippet profile, she had drunk all her water so obviously gave her more and within about 5 minutes she sicked it back up, (forgot to mention she had not eaten her food before i went out, but seemed completly fine, just not hungry as she's not a typical lab and doesn't scoff her food just because its there) once she had sicked her water up she begged for more so again i refilled her bowl and the same happened, by now its about midnight so i called the vet and they said give it over night as by now murphy was very quiet and just sleeping, so i took her water away and went to bed. got up this morning about 7am and she was a bit brighter wagging tail etc so gave her water back and offered food, she ignored food but again drank her whole bowl of water in one go and inturn went out into garden and sicked it up again, so off to the vets i go at 9am, vet said she didn't have a temperature but then she sicked up in the vets and now the vet has said she can't give any medication and has kept her for overnight observation and put her on a drip, the vet can't tell me what could be wrong and says if it doesn't get better today/overnight then x-rays are going to be done to look for problems, other than tha the vet couldn't say more. i have checked round the house and she has eaten/drunk anything not meant for dogs.
my question is, has anyone else experienced this with a lab vomiting watery slime and not being able to hold down water ?? the only thing the vet did say, was ti might be an obstruction internally but cannot say until tomorrow if they xray.
thanks
tim

My curly was like this on Wednesday,I got up in the morning and my kitchen was like a skating rink, white sick and slobber and drool,I offered him his breakfast and he refused but was drinking, same as your pup was bringing water back up,so started giving tiny amounts every 10 mins he kept this down, kept him off food the rest of the day, following morning I gave himmashed potatoe and cooked chicken and he has been fine since
Hi All,
Thanks for the info, Well she's back from the vet and all is ok, the vets comment was "We don't know what was wrong with her, and probably never will" she spent the night on a drip had the magic injection and is all better.
So no idea to what was wrong.
Thanks again, Tim
