What would cause a dog to get pink fur? I have seen it a few times on dogs, but don't know the cause

It is usually caused by saliva, could she be licking herself?

it isn't my dog, it is a german shepherds belly! so could well be licking I suppose

So is this pink fur or a pink skin?

Is this a White GSD?
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 22.09.06 16:49 UTC
no it is fur that is turning pink not the skin and the dog comes from a 50% white breeding

Has a steriod cream been used on her tummy?  My Dalmatians fur went pink after being shaved then using a steriod cream.

Hi Welshie,
do you know what was the cause in the first place?

the GS is black and tan with a white underside.... (purely a family pet) but no steroids have been used and she doesn't lick excessively.  She is due in season, so could this be it?
