I go on a website that's American and have a lot of respect for many of the people on there.

Well someone posted yesterday that they have started doing agility with their Papillon.  This person puts the Papillon on a reign to make sure it does what they want it to do and they also use a whip   I just can[t belive some people!!

and what exactly does she do with the whip:eek:
i hope she whacks herself with it:cool:, as it is always our fault when the dog goes wrong in agility, or so i thought

Flipping heck that's harsh to the extreme!

It's just reminded me of *some* of the American attitudes on the Pets Plastic Surgey programme  also there's an 'only winning matters' orientation in the States & the phrase "no one remembers who comes in second place" is common.

Many in the States push their kids just as hard, I remember a documentary about very young US gymnasts being forced to perform on serious injuries by parents to qualify for competitions etc etc "suck it up" is the term used for little children feeling a lot of pain and having to function.

If some are like that with kids then heaven help competing pets!

Although it's an American site the person is Australian.  They want to eventually do showjumping with thier horse so thought that they'd start the training with their Papillon!!!  They only gently tap her on the back legs with the whip:rolleyes::rolleyes::mad::mad::eek::eek:

Ah perrodeagua so there's no cultural explanation - what a silly thing to do though?!

Did you see that message about the size of our underweight rescue Pom by the way?

Pity it's not in this country - they'd soon be reported for harsh handling.
