While in the Lake District this week I saw a really nice Weimar. She was a most unusual colour which I can only describe as cream with a blue rinse all set off by pale beige markings in the same place a dobermann would have them ie legs, face and round the tail.
Well she looked like a Weimar and her owner said she was a Weimar and what is more he HAD A PEDIGREE to prove it!!!
I was a bit slow and should have asked where I could go and buy one but there was a traffic warden in sight so I didn't.
She did have the correct eye colour though.

Actually, I think they do come in 2 colours - but a) I might have dreamt it, or b) it might be one of those norty colours they are not supposed to breed.
By gum Chloe, that was quick.
I read somewhere that they had two colours in the good old USA but then they have everything over there.
This girl was very typical but she was also very narrow through the chest and tucked up. I did ask if she was a Weimar/Dobe cross and the guy said lots of people had asked him that but no, he had the PEDIGREE.
Makes you wonder if the PEDIGREE is magic doesn't it. Give someone a piece of paper and you can call a mongrel what you want.

She's just a mismark. I've seen one with tan markings and she was a lovely example except of course for the tan bits :d
He reckoned the litter were all the same. Didn't have time to ask any more.

Weimaraners come in any colour as long as it is grey. Sadly however, someone has brought in a blue bitch and is breeding from it in the UK and selling them for almost twice as much as the recognised colour because it is "rare" sigh.
Because of their origins mismarks do appear from time to time which are called "dobe" markings, "ginger jobs" or "peach points" etc etc etc. These are usually sold without papers and obviously should never be bred from.
ALL dogs have a pedigree if you think about it! The value of the pedigree however depends on a lot of factors, the integrity of it, the dogs that are in it etc etc etc.
Just as there are mismarked specimens of all breeds, it does not make them any less a "pedigree" or "breed" they just do not meet the breed standard.
I knew someone who insisted that she had seen me talking to someone with a brown Weimaraner. The dog was actually a Vizla, and even when I told this person, she still insisted that no, it was definately a brown Weimaraner! As Tohme says, Weimaraners come in grey, grey, or grey, although a small white mark on the chest is permitted.
