I missed it as I have been out gallavanting! :-D
But yes, it is a shame that she could not put a more positive message across, it just keeps up the cute puppy, lets all get one thing going. Which as we know usually ends in disaster. The rescue are bound to get thousands of e-mails as a cute pup on the tv is going to get half of Britain wanting one. (I may have been tempted myself :-D) I am sure that they will be given the full rescue criteria afterwards and home checked etc, but it is a big waste of time having to sift through all the unsuitables a few home truthes would have cut the irresponsible, and unsuitable homes down by three quarters, she may regret that when she finds all those e-mails later.
Hhhm, that's the second thing like this to happen! The other day they had a doggy wedding on there, a Bichon and a Shih Tzu got hitched

and then they were on the show, turns out the dogs had been dating for a few months (right?) anyway then Sharon said something along the lines of 'we hope they live happily ever after and have lots of lovely babies'!!! The owners just said thanks, so looks like there will be some cross breeding going on
lets keep our feet on the ground here.
1. highlighting abandoned puppies on tv is showing how uncaring people are.
2. the rescue WOULD check the new homes for the pups, even if they didnt get the chance to say in the short slot they had.
3. sharon has acres of land for the dogs and plenty of people who would be around all day to care for them.
4. how many people, tongue in cheek say 'have lots of lovely babies' about dogs?
5. not many people realise that rescues have puppies only older dogs, and like me prefer a pup to be raised with kids and i've had too many problems with older rescue dogs snapping at kids then finding out the rescue failed to tell me the dog DIDNT like kids.
dont be too quick to critisise before looking at it from all angles.
I see where you are coming from however I don't think that saying 'I hope they have lots of babies' is a very good idea, regardless of whether it is just a saying as people will now be thinking, yeah a nice Bichon x Shih would be lovelly, lets do that too....I don't think cross breeds need to be advertised on tv, even if there is no real litter planned!
Also Sharon doe shave lots of land however if you ever watch the Osborne's you will see that the dogs are always messing in the house, peeing on the carpet and generally running wild, I am not saying they are abused or not properly cared for however due to the vast amount of space ALL of the dogs have they run riot - little Minnie bit Callum Best the other day, no warning just a bite whilst she was sat on his lap!
The show also had a young girl of 14 on there that had a balloon put in her stomach to help her loose weight, they were talking about how she is sick every day due to not being able to eat the amount she wanted - another thing I think could be dangerous when a young girl watches it and think, ah if I am sick I will loose weight!
I like Sharon but the show has made me tut each time I watch it!
