hi all :) Mindy , my little mini dachshund bitch who now lives with my daughter ( the one who was fighting with Tyko !!)  has an enlarged rear mammary. she had a season about 5 weeks ago . when i was examining her, i can feel a lump about the same shape as a coffee bean, about an inch long & 1/2 inch wide. the lump doesnt seem attached to anything & moves around & it doesnt seem to hurt her at all. the nipple & surrounding area arnt red & inflamed , but look just like a nursing bitches! she will be getting an appointment with the vet asap, but i would value any opinions !! :)
thanks
Caron

Hi Caron,
I find that my girls often get enlarged glands in their mammaries, when having phantom pregnacies. They feel like hard beads, are not sore or bothering the bitch in any way. They shrink away when their hormones are back to normal. Having said this, I still think the best thing to do, is having her checked by the vet, just to make sure.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, though.
Good luck to you and Mindy,
Karen :p

Exactly what I was gonna say RRFriend :)  Especially given the time scale from end of season.  My bitch is currently experiencing the exact same thing as she is prone to phantoms.
