The Dyson has had it now and after all the hassles have decided not to get it repaired. I am now looking at other types. Biggest criteria is that it takes a big load.7.5kg upwards. Has anyone bought one recently they might recommend?
Thanks

When I bought my last washing machine I went for a Zanussi as I know of so many people who have one that has lasted them 10+ years. So I looked online for good deals (The prices vary enormously) and bought one that came with free delivery. Really pleased with my machine although it's load is only 6kg but I'm sure they'd do a bigger load capacity one.

I have a Zanussi too. Had it around six years and have been very pleased with it.

i bought a BOSCH washing machine about 6 months ago, after having a terrible year with an Indset machine(sorry spelling) the repair man was visiting that much the curtains over the road where twitching

He even said that the bulk of his repair work was for this make on machine, lucky the machine was still under a year old so it was under warranty. The BOSCH machine is excellent, loads of functions and a quick time for a full load. Mine only takes 6.0kg but i do know you can get a bigger drum.

I know a lot of people don't like Hotpoint, but I have a 7.5kg load 1600 spin Hotpoint and it's great, had it a year and so far so good.
My sister bought a LG machine, 3 weeks after she bought it water was pouring out the drawer, the engineer came out and told her to keep her receipt handy as he WILL be back, as this was a major problem with this machine..........4 weeks later he was back again!

I had a Zanussi that did me through two kids and...real nappies in them days! lasted over15 years...I've got a Dyson now and I love it as I am obsessive about washing me quilts...but been reading more and more bad news...which is a bummer as it cost a grand!!! Let us know which you choose?:D

I have had my Dyson 4 years and lost count how many times it has been repaired. To be fair it is mega used...7 of us and 8 big dogs plus all their vet bed on a very regular basis. Mine cost a grand but hubbie refuses to cough up that sort of money again. Dyson and the insurance company have started to get really difficult now about repairing (say I am abusing it,, can you get 'done' for washer abuse? LOL) It is leaking now and electrics are all damp so have given up arguing with dyson. They dont make dyson washers anymore though I believe a new prototype is due out possibly next year?
What I will say about the dyson was how great its washability was. I cannot fault performance when it worked. i do was several times nearly every day. I will certainly miss it :(
Mine is a Whirlpool with a 7.5 load capacity. I have had mine for 7 years and still going strong, with no repairs. It is used daily aswell.

Ive got an LG (intellowasher 7kg) had it about 7yrs and its going strong my daughter has the same machine and hers is o.k. as well it also takes a double duvet. Before that I had a Zanussi for years and years and before that a Bendix thats the only washing machines ive had in nearly 40 yrs not bad going.

I've got a Whirlpool 14 Kg and I love it. Best thing is, when you find the escapee sock on the stairs after you started the wash, you can just pop it in - it's top loading.

I've got a Hotpoint Ultima 7.5kg and haven't had any problems with it. I've had it just over a year now and it is in use permanently! I did buy an LG washer 3 months before the Hotpoint but has that many problems with it I argued with the supplier and got a full refund. It only worked for 5 weeks on and off and the repair man was becoming a regular visitor.

Thanks for all the advice guys...after much deliberation I have ordered a Hotpoint Aqualtis from their new range. (Great ad for it on TV :) ) Will see how it compares to the Dyson.
I got the Aqualtis a few months ago - very nice washing machine! Very quiet! Lovely to be able to put so much into it, do small loads and also shorter ones! I like how the powder dispenser drawer is behind the door too - makes the whole thing very smart. It's efficient with the washing too, although last time I washed a dog bed in it (Danish Design padded) it wasn't spun enough even at fast spin, so I spun it again. Haven't shoved the duvet in it yet, so can't comment on it's abilities with one.
First thing I noticed was a rather large, vertical, raised maroon label on the top left of the front casing - it's rating information, and in my opinion would have been far better behind the door and out of sight as it spoils the uncluttered design. I contacted Hotpoint, and was assured that if I pulled firmly, it would come off and leave no mark - it did :)
It doesn't appear to be removable though, as I'd had a tentative pick at it when it arrived. This label isn't shown on any advertising or website images - or wasn't last time I looked.
One other thing - it's so airtight that it's a good idea to leave the door ajar overnight after a wash, and try not to leave a damp load in it for more than a few hours with the door closed - the machine & any contents start to smell foisty! I read about leaving the dor ajar in the information that came with it, and promptly forgot.
Let us know how you get on with it Star! :)

Hiya
Just out of interest which model did you go for. I am getting the 149 (1400 spin). Also is there a filter which you have to empty of fluff etc. On the dyson its at the front. I could not see one so am guessing it must be at the back.
