I know we've talked about the merits of leather suites on here before but I'm seriously considering going for one after seeing the latest 'sale' advert for DFS. Have I got it right? Buy now, pay nothing for a year and then 3 (or is it 4?) years interest free credit.
Are they a good company to buy from? I have a huge mental dobe who, though he isnt encouraged to jump on the furniture, often bounds onto the sofa when he's having one of his mad half hours. Can leather stand up to this or am I being to hopeful??? I really fancy one and hubby hasnt completely dismisssed the idea!

I have a DFS suite it cost the owners £4,000 ish when new ( i have papers), they emigrated to Spain when it was 5 years old and we bought it for £500,nearly 4 years ago, its in brilliant condition, we have 3 dogs!

I've had a DFS leather suite for 3 years and despite my 2 dogs best efforts it still looks like new .
Go and see them they are very helpful, we didn't do ours on credit, but when it came to paing the salesman actually advised us to only do a £100 deposit in case anything happened, a few weeks later Courts went bust

so we were very relieved.
The suite arrived a couple of weeks early and was put into place/unwrapped by the deliverymen.

This is what I wanted to hear........ No real horror stories!!Now got to work on hubby.

I have a leather suite from DFS too. It's 4 years old now and is in great condition despite two huge dogs using it as their beds  In fact, my Mum is so impressed with how good mine looks considering the abuse it gets, she ordered one from DFS about a month ago :)

Mine is a velour type suite from DFS, we are just in the process of looking at the leather suites. 4 Golden Retrievers and has been going strong for......15 years!!!!!!! The label is still on the bottom of the sofa December 1991.
We have just had to get rid of one of the chairs due to the damage OH has done to it (gone through the bottom of it). The sofa and other chair are still in remarkably good condition.
my dfs sofa leather is a good age now, had three children jumping on it now the grandchildren throwing up on it, a rottweiler that used it as his bed when he thought no one was looking, a litter of pups that we would catch teething on the corners of it, and it is still looking good, so good infact OH willnot give in to buying a new one.

Hi there,
We bought a DFS suite about 5 years ago and have absolutely no complaints. The only thing is that their interest free credit is not ( or wasn't) actually "pay nothing for a year and 3 years interest free credit" as they insist that you take out their insurance right from the start and for the whole period if you want to have this option. It might still be OK but be sure that you ask all the finance questions !
Regards,
Christine
If you want a new suite in time for Christmas, i'd be ordering it now :) I ordered mine 12 weeks ago, and i'm still waiting.
But i dont know the delivery times from DFS, i think there all the same....I'm getting mine from Land Of Leather.

I was looking at the DFS advert too and quite liked the look of some of them. Don't think I'll buy this time but hopefully will be able to afford one inthe New Year :d

I think you may be cutting it a bit fine if you want one for christmas, I know when we went in three weeks ago they said we 'might' have it in time for Christmas if we ordered then. Couldn't see anything we liked so went elsewhere.

DFS leather, 13 years old

still as good as new :)
despite the dogs and the children/grandchildren ;)

I'm not too worried about getting it in time for christmas. I've waited this long, abit longer wont make much difference! You've definitely sold me on the idea of 'leather' though. I'm sick of cleaning spills etc off the fabric one and constantly doing spot cleans on it. I dont think they hold doggy smells so much either. Many thanks for all your helpful opinions.

We got ours from DFS in the Easter sale this year. I was a bit worried about credit because not a lot of people give me credit, but they did straight away. They said upto 8 weeks delivery, it came in 6, its gorgeous. I dont pay anything for a whole year, start paying in April 07 for 3 years :) The quality of the leather is great and my house still smells of leather :D Edited to say, i didnt take out their insurance either.

I've got a lovely dark green leather suite, though notfrom DFS...it cost a lot of money but I'm made up with it...3 giant breeds and 2 ickle Yorkies AND 2 cats all over it!!! I clean it with baby wipes and it comes up a treat! All the best, Dawn

This thread has convinced me to use DFS and their credit system and to purchase a long awaited leather suite from them. I was always sceptical about the buy now pay next year then take 3 yrs interest free as I normally think if it sounds too good to be true it will be but I'll certainly be checking them out over the next few weeks.
I bought a DFS leather suite 12yrs ago this november coming and it has had numerous boxers bouncing all over it..still looks in new condition.
I paid just over£2500 for mine and it has been worth every penny.in fact ive looked at their adverts and thought is it time i had a new one.but ive not seen that offer i need to look ty
