Hi all Advice please take my girl to vets for atest rong to say that she will be ovulating this afternoon or sat morning vet said that the eggs are marure when released, but i read that they take at leased 25 -36 hours to mature. We are only taking her the once to be mated has it is a long way.Would Sunday be about the right time.

The dog's sperm can survive in the bitch for about 3 days so timing's not that critical. More importantly, is she standing yet?

I have had many a bitch come to my stud dog that has been ready for mating but was not interested in standing. Some bitches just do not want to be mated.

My own bitch stands from day 3 but doesn't ovulate until day 17, going by the blood tests she's had.
