It's sad when they start getting old isn't it?  All her life Jet's been going down the trail from our house to the next side road, a round trip distance of about 6.5 km.  That's too far for her now so today we drove down to the other end and walked up to the golf course, found some balls, and headed back to the car.  Poor little Jetskipup, she was sure we were going the wrong way.  And we WERE going AWAY from our house but she obviously forgot we had left the car at the opposite end.  Usually she knows exactly where the car is.  I was afraid she might just head out on her own, in the direction she thought we should be going, but she came with me when I called her and the relief and surprise on her face at finding the car was comical.  At least she can still hear pretty well.  My sister's dog is a year older, 14 and a half, and he's deaf so when he gets going the way he thinks it should be Sis has to run after to get him back.

They have short little lives:-(
my oldest is going the same way sometimes.

happy memories :-)

Ahh bless my nearly 13 year old isn't there yet, but she does sometimes lie in the kitchen and bark for no reason bless her.

This year I'm taking her water trainnig and she'll be going to a game fair on Sunday as she loves to retrieve and at almost 13 it will be more than likely her last chance to do this before old age comes on top of her!

my old lady 'Folly' is almost 14 -has stress incontinence - is selectively deaf - has limited vision and will only walk half way along the river bank before determinedly stomping off home. She has HER bed by the radiator ( woe betide any upstart that dares to lie in it) - still loves to wash her 'puppy' Lily's ears at least twice a day - ( Lily is now 11 years old ) and is the most curmudgeonly old harridan you can imagine.......and I bless every day that she remains here with us - dont'cha just LOVE the oldies :D

I love the oldies too. :) Puppies and young dogs are fun and exciting but the oldies are much more characterful and ... comfortable. :)

Unless you take on a 9 year old rescue with a dislike of being touched:eek:

Wait till she's an oldie, though! At 9 she's in her prime still. :) :)

Sounds just like our Porsche Yvonne - bless her ;)  I love the way they are.

No oldies here now - and I miss them so much :(
