I swear, sometimes I could just murder Opi... It's been a couple of months since she Pepe-le-Piu-d onto a sharp rock and sliced her pad open, and got knocked out and stitched up.  One hefty vet bill and a few weeks on-lead (and ensuing extra bounciness ) later, all is fine.  Until today!

Took the two round the woods earlier, just a nice, calm 45 minute wander, got home and saw a blood spot on the floor.  Made all the dogs walk for a second, no blood dripping anywhere, so on to the foot check.  Nothing on Remy, checked Opi's - the last foot I checked, same as last time as well, there was a thick line of blood merrily making its way to the floor down her hock.  Eek!

I haven't a clue what she's done - I assume she's pepe-d onto something again in the woods, but I didn't see any blood until we got indoors, and there's nothing around the car or the driveway that I can imagine would have done it - especially not 4" off the ground!  She's all bandaged up now, hopefully she won't need stitches but having seen the wound clean it might well do.

She's going to be the end of my wallet, this dog

Poor Opi
Like some people she may just be 'accident prone'.  you know, if its gonna happen it'll happen to Opi  :P

I know exactly how you feel- I've had this lately with my older bitch 'Kassie'- last month her demon daughter was playing with her in the garden and caught Kassies nose with her claw- after spraying blood all over the house, van & us she has it 'corterised' (sp?) and stitched by the vet :-(  Just healed and guess what- Friday she's had another accident and ripped one of her claws completely out :-(  Vet wouldnt even give her an antibiotic jab to prevent infection but told me I'll end up back there this week for the jab since its more than likely going to get infected :-(

aww bless her.
 why didn't he give her the jab then if he thinks she will need it anyway?  I would have thought prevention was better than cure?

My point exactly :-(  The vet also gave a few days worth of pain killers which I'd rather not have since (she's not in agony BTW) she's more likely to *do* more on it if the pain is masked.

I'm starting to think that I must admit - she must've learned it from me, I'm a right clumsy so-and-so :D

Doesn't look too bad today although she bled halfway through the bandage last night.  Stopped bleeding now though, I don't think it's as deep as it looked initially, thankfully.

Well I'm pleased it isn't as bad as it first seemed. Thats the trouble sometimes though isn't it, with the amount of blood you lose you'd swear you lost the top of your finger when its only a cut :P
