Can't believe it is 5 years today. Seems like it was just yesterday.

God bless all affected.

Pls observe the minutes silence being held at 13.46pm today, the same time the first plane hit the towers.

Such a sad day...

I just went through all the photos again on the net this morning.

A lovely picture of a 9-11 sand sculpture done on a beach in India with a group of Indian people around it. Have a look at it on the yahoo photos is is really quite a solitude picture.

Wow!  What fantatic detail, that is a wonderful tribute, it really did effect the whole world didn't it?

An amazing tribute isn't it.  Thanks Pam.

I can't comprehend that 5 years have been and gone - the memories and visions are all too vivid.  I've avoided watching all of the recent televised programmes - whether documentary or drama - because I simply can't bear to look at them.   I find the need to show the planes crashing into the buildings and those in the Towers jumping out horrific.  These are real images of real people, being blown apart and plunging to their deaths - to have them broadcast again and again is IMO so disrespectful :( :( :(

May all who lost their lives in the horror rest in peace.  God bless them and their loved ones and also all those who were involved in rescue attempts and searching for remains.  They will be haunted by those memories for life :(

Me too, I just can't believe it is 5 years ago, it truly feels as though it only happened last year. God bless all the families affected, I shall be thinking of them today too.

On the radio this morning they played a Robbie Williams song 'Freedom' i think it is and in between him singing they played snippets of news reports etc and it was very moving. The song and hearing the reporters saying 'An unconfirmed airoplane has hit one of the twin towers....etc'.

So sad!

what amazes me is that on a daily basis there are people being blown up in iraq yet it rarely makes the news let alone a headline. Seems like one rule for the yanks/brits & another for the iraqis:mad:

I do know what you mean sam - same with Lebanon and the Israelies. BUT, this was so well planned, so well executed, and on such a massive scale in one hit that it cannot fail to shock people. It also has the "that could have been me" factor :(

However, I do believe that this public outpouring of grief every year serves a purpose to the terrorists in highlighting just what a massive impact this had on the US/UK - and it might be better to have a quiet, unpublicised mourning that they can't ride off the back of
