Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Dalmatian litter.

My local evening news has just included a story about a family that have bred their male and female Dalmatians together and produced a litter of 23 puppies. Four did not survive, but that still leaves 19 puppies.

As far as I could see, the mother had blue eyes and several large patches. The Father was a little more difficult to see from the view through the window, but also looked patched. Don't you wish that people would try to breed the best pups they could, not just breed because they can.

Wonder how many of the 19 are deaf...........

And they will all be sold for hundreds, without testing to make sure they are not deaf :( :(

I was also going to say why don't you get in touch with the said paper and advise them of what horrors could be lurking with these pups ie. deafness etc !  I bet that people that own them don't even know of the risks

weve just got a dali in at work, and he's obviously partially deaf because he does look to see the noise, but not at the point where it came from. queried this with it's previous owner and they said that they got him through the paper. he's only 6 months old and now he's looking for a new home. poor thing

Could you get the owners to sign him over to Dal Rescue?
- By keisha85 [gb] Date 08.09.06 15:38 UTC
he's signed over to rspca.

Better than nothing, I suppose. I so with the RSPCA would liaise and co-ordinate with Breed rescue societies. After all, they're supposed to be on the same side! Breed welfare might have the ideal home waiting for him and could then leave a space in RSPCA kennels for another needy dog with no such support network.

same here, had 2 gsd's and I know one of the people involved with gsd rescue, but they coulldn't go because that was sending them onto another charity. it's like one of the home visit questions is which vet would they be using and if they answer PDSA they cant have the animal unless they change their vets.

Its in todays Daily Record newspaper and I see some of the pups already have some markings on them as well.
