Hi, Josie went to the vets on Monday (day 29 from mating), and they confirmed that they could feel pups, yipee!!  My problem is her appitite, she is totally food mad.  She stares at her food bin for alot of the day.  Has started to pinch any food left unattended.  She has always had a liking for tissues! but she now sneaks upstairs to search in the bins and puts her noses in jacket pockets, to sniff them out, someone left the loo door open the other day and she was eating it off the roll!  She just seems hungary all the time.
So my question is should I start giving her a little extra food now or wait until around the 6 week mark?  Or may be put her onto 3 meals a day? I should mention that Josie is at the lower end of the breed standard, in height and the stud dog was at the upper end.  So I don't want to over feed her.
I'd be grateful for any ideas.

I personally wouldn't feed her up yet as you certainly don't want her overwieght now that she is pregnant.  Could you not fill her up with bran or such like.

my girl was exactly the same as yours from around 4 weeks but i didnt start actually feeding her up until she hit 6 weeks, i found that splitting her daily food into smaller portions and spreading it through the day helped abit until she was ready to have her food amount actually increased, but although that worked for my girl cant say it would work for yours but might be worth trying along with bran or such like

I was also going to say spread what you are feeding her now throughout the day so that she is getting small meals often.  Hope all goes well with the birth!

Thanks for the replies.  She obviously is hungry my OH just tried her with lettuce, one of the few foods she normally refuses, just to see if she would eat it, she took it too her bed and ate that! I will split her food and feed her three times a day and see if that helps.  I've also just spoke to my breeder and she suggested sticking to the same amount, but from 5 weeks mixing it with the 'Active' version of her food (which she will go onto at 6 weeks).  Just re read that, hope it makes sense.  Any more tips?
