What a rotten week or so.
Got shingles but never mind we'll have pups in a couple of weeks - or so I thought.
Took Noe for a scan today as she wasn't filling out as she should and couldn't feel any movement.

No pups on scan.

Sorry, rant over - I'm gutted.

I know just how it feels, how sad and disappointed you get. There are times when everything just seems to go wrong

Was talking to hubby about the various reasons for this non-pregnancy and we wonderered if you could tell us:

Out of how many matings were puppies pruduced and how many were not.

Thanks, Aimi.

1: Good matings, no puppies (c. 1987)
2: Good matings, no puppies, pyo, spay (c. 1989)
3: Good matings, PUPPIES :D (1994)
4: Good matings, PUPPIES :D (2002)
5: Good matings, no puppies (dog unproven and probably a bit young) (2004)
6: Good matings, puppies conceived but reabsorbed, spay (2005)
7: Fair matings, but silent season, no puppies (2006)

The above are with five different bitches across nearly 20 years. I couldn't be a puppy farmer if I tried, could I?! ;) :D

Hi Aimi, I'm sorry you are disappointed, but there is something to be thankful for. You still have your bitch and you can try again next season. I have a bitch that lost her litter at 5 weeks in whelp the pups were rotting inside her and she had to be spayed as an emergency to save her life. There are some people on here that have lost their bitches in the whelping process and lost whole litters of puppies after they were born. So things could be alot worse. Chin up and get planning for next time. :)

Oh Dawn, I'm so sorry for your awful experience. Similar thing happened to me at 7 weeks with my older bitch. Thankfully she only had a "wash out" and apart from depression she was OK after about 3 weeks. You are right - I should get my chin up and be thankful.
Big hugs to you and your girlie.

I'm probably not the best person to ask:

First litter: 1 good mating on day 13 - 14 puppies (12 live)
Second litter: 1 good mating on day 13 - 14 puppies (9 live)
Third litter: 1 good mating on day 13 - 14 puppies (10 live)

This is 2 different bitches.

Mating 1 - 2 good ties - days 12 & 14  - no pups... pregnant, mumified and had a pyo
mating 2 - 3 good ties - day 4 & 6  = 3 pups (although lost a pup (Ellie) to cancer at 14months)
Mating 3 - 1 good tie  - day 22 = 3 pups (lost one) (eurethra seperated from bladder at 5 days)
mating 4 - 2 good ties- day 8 & 10 = 11 pups (lost one) (too small to survive, although held on for 3 days)
Mating 5 - 2 slips - day 13 & 15 = no pups
mating 6 - 1 reasonable tie and 2 slips - day 11 & 13 = no pups
mating 7 - 2 good ties - day 12 & 14 = 10 pups (all survived)

Mating 2 & 3 were same girl
mating 5 & 6 were same girl (dont think she will ever get pregnant )

From my own bitch one good mating - day 18 - 4 puppies (wanted a small litter and used an 11 year old dog :) )

From bitches my boys have mated, litters my Mum bred I can only think of one time a bitch missed, she came back next season and had 8 puppies.
