Has anyone of you ever tried self tanning products? I don't have a problem getting a nice, dark tan when going on holidays, but with all of the skin cancer around us (I know quite a few people :(), I decided to try this option instead. I have tried it years ago, but it ended up looking fake on me, so I said never again..... but with all those new products on the market I decided to give it a try again. I have seen very good reviews regarding Elizabeth Arden, Clarins, Vichy and L'Oreal products.
Anyone tried any of them?

I was recommended Avon and it was really good. You just have to make sure you really rub it in well to stop streaks!

I'll look into that one as well ..... my problem is that my skin is very oily and I break out easily, so I need to find one that is good with oily skin.....

I really like the Ambre Solaire 'No Streaks' bronzer. It's a spray on one and gives a nice natural colour and really doesn't streak Don't know what it's like with oily skin though as my skin is very dry.

Do not apply after several glasses of red with no contact lenses in. Take it from me :D

L'Oreal moisturiser with self tan :-)  Very 'tacky' though when you first put it on so I usually apply it then go to bed wearing loose fitting pj's so the waist band can't rub it off etc :-)  I think it's great, top marks to it :-)  The other week when I went out- I applied it Wed, Thur & Fri and difeltdn't feel out of place sat with my Sister and Friend both who had just came back from abroad a few days earlier (and thats using the fair skin one) :-)

Sally Hansen do one called airbrush legs but you can use everywhere which is fab.

I love the Sally Hansen nail stuff, finally, after forever, I have been able to grow some! ;-)

The moisturisers with self tan in them are really good, I didnt like the dove one as it was really streaky. Nivea do a really good one that doesnt smell like fake tan because I hate the smell. I never tan, I went to Africa for three weks and didnt get any tan, have used sun beds nothing except a much lighter wallet, now i have a healthy glow and its safe.

i occasionally use that johnsons holiday skin stuff-i use a mitt to apply it though, because its easier, less messy, and more even.  And its a moisturiser wich is a bonus. I have fair skin, and i use the medium one-just because i founf that i had to apply the fair one for over a week to notice anything, and even then it was barely noticeable. I've just bought the Avon version, but not tried it yet.

I have used pratically all of the self tans, the one i find the best is . St Tropez mousse.... Excellant!  :-) 

I also have used Johnsons Holiday skin, must admit used it after my hols when my skin was already brown, but I put a top up of this on each day, kept my skin lovely and soft and kept a beautiful tan for the next 12 months.  It does not smell yukky like a lot of self tans, it does not streak, and is a nice subtle colour that builds up and looks natural.

The secret is to exfoliate first, then moisturise, then put the fake tan on with long strokes without rubbing in.  The Clarins one is the best!

Me too - just bought the Johnsons night one last week to try and make me look less pasty for the winter months that seem to be drawing ever closer.  Just remember to wash your hands after - a friend of mine always forgot and had very nicely tanned palms!!

But I do love St Tropez - it's expensive but is very very good - but I have very dry skin so couldn't say how it is with oily skin or not - sorry :)

i used st tropez last week and my bf commented on how i didnt look orange lol and it looked quite natural :)
the only problem is yu have to sleep in it over night so it can be quite messy,but it does wash out of your bedding :)
fake bake is ment to be good althoughtive not tryed it myself i know a few who do and it looks ok :)

MM heard they do a cream (St Tropez that is :)) that is instant not leave overnight now - not tried it myself though!!

yes all the st tropez mousse/spray is instant. Its how I have used it...put on and go! :-)

I have an all year round tan thanks to St Tropez mousse. I love the stuff and don't know what I would do without it! I too have funny skin - quite sensitive and prone to breakouts but I have no problems with the mousse (the cream makes me spotty). I always use gloves when applying then when I've finished I put a blob on the back of my hand and blend it into the back of both hands by rubbing together. I have tried fake bake but I didn't like it, it was very sticky and the colour didn't turn out nice on me, however my friend swears by Fake Bake and  her 'tan' looks really natural where I looked orangy. I think products take differently on different skins so its a case of trial and error and finding what suits each individual best.

How about the tanning booths in nail salons, the spray stuff. Anyone tried them???

:D Spray on tans are all very Posh/WAGS. I don't mind being pale - but my legs are like milk bottles at the moment so I am going to try the St Tropez mousse :D

I tried the fake bake spray tan once.  It is put on using a high power spray which is freezing cold ! Be warned....I got such a fright.  I use Johnsons tanning moisturiser. It gives you a good colour, if you want a good tan on your legs or arms, it is better to apply it every few days before a night out. Sometimes it does smell a wee bit like bovril thou.
