Hi,
Has anyone got any good tips for show venues in the South East? - medium sized breed, we need a good sized hall with a fair amount of parking, preferably facilities to do our own catering but not essential - oh, and reasonably priced of course - easy to find would be good too.
Maidenhead/Slough/Windsor ... West no further than Reading ... up to Watford-ish ... down to Guildford-ish ... any suggestions of venues that work well would be much appreciated.
Sorry, I know that's fairly vague, but 'London & Provincial' is the area and we're interested in the right venue rather than a particular location.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
M.

How about Bradfield Village Hall? Don't know if the circumstances have changed, but the St Bernard Club used to have shows there.
You've also got Worplesdon (spelling?) Village hall.
That used to have 3 area's if I remember correctly, can't remember the size of the main hall though...
The London & Home Counties Boxer club moved to a new venue from Bisley Pavillions (who only want you to use their
own catering). They moved to Fairlands Community Centre, Fairlands Avenue.
It's a tad bit hard to find the first time - but once you've been there once you remember it quite well :D
It's near to the Merrist Wood Agricultural college.
Has reasonable parking including to the rear of the hall. Has a playing field to the rear which you can use the outskirts to
exercise the dogs on. This summer the club used the field to hold it's summer show on..
It has facilities for you to do your own catering. But the Boxer club brings it's own microwave..
FAIRLANDS estate is off the A323 Aldershot Road, in the parish of Worplesdon, three miles north of Guildford town centre.
It's postcode is GU3 3
Downside, no real space for cages..so have to leave your dogs in cars.
Not many ladies loos also, think 2 or 3.
You also have the Holyport Memorial Hall, Holyport,Nr Maidenhead. (Maidenhead limit show held here so think you should know
this one ;) )
Bradfield hall is a good one too.
The london & home counties BC used to use a hall in old Windsor for ringcraft nights parking was ok but can't remember how many places.
Was big enough to have a cage area...and did have it's own catering facilities.
Wouldn't there be any Rugby clubs in the area that may be suitable?

OOOHHH if you make it a rubgy club on practice days, then I might even come !!! ;) ;D
Oi, me first in line for that, Elbows Val out of line.... slobbers at the thought of rugby players thighs :D

Most of the rugby players I know also slobber, Kirstine (and I married one LOL).
M.
That's FINE I have three slobbery Boxers...they'd be in great company :D
I'm used to it, Ace bleach works a treat on my clothes to remove slobber ;)
ROFLOL

Lol Kirstine and Val - did consider going to speak to Bracknell RFC, but having worked there I have a good idea of the kind of oiks we'd get wandering through our doors, and thought better of it. :D Did wonder about having a look at Maidenhead, very easy access. Might give them a call. Suspect they're not quite as active 'socially' as Bracknell.
Bradfield was the one I was trying to remember. Will investigate that as well as the others mentioned.
Thanks, and keep the ideas coming.

Bradfield works very well. There enough parking, a kitchen and enough grass outside to be able to have the show out there too! You could ask Margaret to drive up there and get you the Careaker's number - it's not far!

Excellent, or I could wander up there and get a cuppa at Margaret's! The eternal teenager is off camping at the moment, wonder what she'll injure this time?
M.
Bradfield normally has the Mayfair there with an exemption show...
I can't remember the hall size but a few clubs use it.

I told her not to inhale the air but she's never been the same since! ;)
At least with the Rugby club's they tend to be well signposted..........
Henley Rugby club used to have Great Dane's show there but can't remember
if they still do...

Yes, think they used to do the GDC limit show there, I've been now you remind me. Will give some of them a call and see if they're open to dogs.
M.
Claps hands wildy.....let me know when the show is, as if there's any chance of seeing
a hunky rugby player...I may have to dress mine up as Collies :D Shush don't tell Sarah....:D
